@KBcobra724 i agree with the can't miss a shift part but id much rather drive a stick... ive seen them win more races and its much more fun. I buy a car for the driving experience and i dont get the same rush just stomping on the gas as i do stomping on the gas then jamming the gears into place at the perfect time and listening to the wheels chirp
@TheZohaun Im with you, I like have to bang threw them. But with a built auto (turbo) cars dont loose boost (nitrous) cars wont miss a shift hit the rev limit and send parts flyin. auto are for guys who own a car that is mostly drag duty
@TheZohaun Ya you maintain boost with powershifting, as long as your tranny is built you be okay. If you do have alot of power it is much faster with an auto cause even with power shifting it takes at least half a second to shift but an auto does it in a blink of an eye, with big power you have to shift a stick way to much cause it revs real quick.
@TheZohaun you must not have really big #'s, it's nearly impossible to hook cars with 800+hp on the street when you have a stick, not to mention how hard it is to drive them straight with one hand on the wheel and the other on the shifter... much better to have both hands on the wheel when flooring an 800+ HP turbo'd car... I drove my stang with a stick for years, I love bangin gears, now if I want to do that I drive the Mrs' R Spec Genesis
@2mchvnm Oh I'm only at 300-330rwhp right now. It''s not that difficult to maintain traction at all. I agree with you that it will be harder to hook up but that's part of the fun. Watch Dan Millen drag his outlaw turbo cobras and you will see someone with the clutchless shifter who flys down the track at anywhere from 5-7s 1/4th mile times. He has one hand on the wheel when shifting and puts the other hand on the shifter. I think that would be more fun and challenging then just flooring
@moe929560 Depends honestly... Rumpeltiezer would be correct to a degree. during a drag race Under a normal shift at a fast pace you would lose boost and there Auto would make its shine..that and the fact autos shift faster and there isn't a chance of missing a shift. Yet, some people power shift which is just us flooring the gas and pressing in the clutch without letting off the gas which is essentially doing the same as an auto.Auto=consistency... Manual= a chance of a better time
@BurtonBluntRider yeah but the almost 80lbs of more torque makes up for the engine weight. a 5.4L will respond better to mods also and just has more potential. i agree that it would be better if it were all aluminum like the 3v 4.6's but it is what it is.
@turbonegro1120 for a turbo car it is a good debate. 4.6L rev up faster and can be spun harder. Nothing wrong with a 5.4 either. I thought about it but the 4.6L Teskid won. Nice car though man!
@BurtonBluntRider it depends if its 2v or 4v too. a 4v 4.6 is better than a 2v 5.4. a 3v 5.4 and 4v 4.6 would be a tough choice i think. but yeah when it comes too boost its all about the stronger block and forged internals lol
@turbonegro1120 a 3v 5.4 is a good combo but a 4v 5.4 would still be better. The best combo would be a 5.4L ALUM block(pricey) and a 4v with GT heads. Any combo will work. Like you said...with boost anything is possible!
@cdjnight what type of intercooler setup do yhou have? i consistantly ran 23psi in my talon with no knock (detonation) before having to upgrade to meth injection. using a precision 6262. i was just using a front mount air to air intercooler with 93 octane pump gas. are you seeing detionation at only 18psi? if so whats your injectory duty cycle? most summer night i was seeing 40 degree F intake air temps. during summer days usually around ambient air temp so roughly 100 degrees F.
you sound stupid. the transmission doesn't restrict the amount of boost, and with an auto you can maintain the boost through shifts. my buddy has a tt cobra that we're plannin on removin the 6 spd and swappin an auto in for those reasons.
For track use, fuck no, standard trans only, but an auto is much better for the strip. MUCH better. Tehy can also take more power. Its hard to find a clutch/pressure plate that will take 800-1000 ftlbs of torque w/o slipping
you obviously dont know shit about cars. Automatics with turbos are much faster at the track. With an automatic you dont have to dump boost to shift, like you do with a manual.
Not to be a dick but i didn't wanna see a video of a boost gauge, especially one that was in vaccuum 99% of the time. Lets see the rest of ur ride!! Sounds good tho...
