Well, the guitar I'm using in this video isn't really versatile, it's pretty basic. But I like the Sums too, so I thought it was worth it. So if you know you won't have any regrets, it's worth it. But if you plan on expanding your playing style, you might just want to keep the '72 Telecaster Deluxe uncustomized cause it's great as it is already.

try ernie ball regular slinky strings. i use them. blink 182 does. metallica does, sum 41 does? idk but most famous bands uses them. can you tell me more about a fender tele custom? and check out my cover of this song =] i used wahwah in the solo xD

Maybe if you can afford replacing your strings every couple weeks...haha... I recommend Elixir's or Cleartone coated strings, sound AMAZING and last forever. You get the sound of uncoated strings with the longevity of coated.

idk unless you clean them after every time you even touch them, then your strings are probably rusted and have horrible tone to them now. Go buy some new strings, take the ones off of your guitar and compare them before you restring, you will see what I'm talking about

well.. check out my cover and discover the tone of this song and listen to it. they arent rusted. if you wash your hands before playing it will be fine. every week i clean up my guitar. get a thin towel or something and whipe the finger dirt of the strings. they wil last realy long with that

I would say buy this guitar over the custom. It is a lot more versatile and you can play different kinds of music if you want to. I customized my '72 Telecaster Deluxe though, so that's why it only has one knob and a different bridge pickup.
