Then she was so confussed that the guy in the plane might not even need her to be safe, completely forgot she even had a flight waiting for take off clearance. The crossing plane could not cross without clearance. She was behind the curve, in situational awarness. But the system itself is clearly very flawed for her unintended slip of memory to cause all this. With all these eyes , all these radios, she alone should never be the only and last word to avoid a collision. Go no go must be redundant
And the pilot that did not respond to her telling him to cross had already figured out why he was told to hold since he had in his sights not only the incoming flight but the one at end of field wanting for permission to take off. He already knew his proper order in the line of actions was behind the plane landing. When he ask her to cross was when he should have been cleared to cross. The controller overruled his understanding of logic. Then came back told him to go ahead after stopping him .
I can not believe this guy telling us the hatch not going out the plane had a dam thing to do with all this stupidity. I tell you what caused this! The FFA the DOT and all the other dammed federal agencys that are more concerned with servicing the bottom line of a bunch of industries and safety is last on there list of prioritys no matter how many times they lie and say different. One persons screw up on the ground causing this shows the system itself is a trap designed to get people killed
i watch all of these investigations, i'm no expert. but if you knew that there had been a collision on a runway between two planes, shouldn't common sense draw you towards the airport tower and the woman in charge of incoming flights?
@Bumblybee256 its like murder. she doesnt deserve to be reminded. humans are humans. mistakes are always made. it was bad one but it happens. now go fuck urself
@jrdragster3323 I never suggested reminding her, I was SAYING mistakes are always made. And no it's not like murder. Jeez, choose what point you're making before you start typing, angry kid.
Herve Villchaise was screwing with the engine cowling, he was chewing the wiring and hitting the pump with a spanner. He said " Da plane da plane" All because they they would not give him a booster seat. Damn Herve!
@ElliottsFather Much of it is the plastic burning, and few (if any) plastics don't give off toxic gasses when they burn. Add the burning oil and jet fuel and you have a toxic cocktail. Most smoke has some level of toxicity because of these and other common components.
BTW those safety cards don't always tell you to throw the exit door out. I've noticed quite a few instruct you to lay it across the exit row seats, which this incident tragically showed can be dangerous.
the smaller aircraft's pilot should have noticed when another aircraft is cleared to land on the same runway he is on, and said something about it. I mean he is on the same freq. (with local controller).
@airdelta9 yup, this is what they call ATC's fault. She was not awared that she gave position and hold to an aircraft instead of clearance to take off, and instead of paying attention to the upcomming aircraft, she ignored it until last minute.
2:23 - the investigator was casually urinating at the crash site, don't know how that helps.

The actor in the green shirt with the sunglasses, I'm waiting for him to do a dramatic David Caruso-style donning/removal of sunglasses.

its incredible that the planes have the front and the rear perfectly intact and the planes were hit right in the middle.

Why is the smoke from an aircraft fire always toxic? Haven't they worked out by now to construct aircraft from non-toxic material?

@ElliottsFather You're not going to get any material that burns with material humans can breathe. All smoke is essentially toxic.
