  • Great movie. Love Late Spring.

  • Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  • Trully beautiful films, so rare. Who are his contemporaries now? Perhaps its partly nostagia but I cant think of anyone really who come close to matching his films.

  • This is truly beautiful! Concentrated Ozu is almost too lovely to bear! Logically, the African music shouldn't work with the Asian images, but somehow they do. Like the daughter in Late Spring, I am grateful.

  • @heinrichvon I think because Ozu's work, unlike say, Mizoguchi's, is more than Japanese; it is universal, even elemental. He taps into the heart's deepest longing, one that transcends sex, age, race or class. Music from any nation could perhaps give some justice if it too tapped into a similar longing and need.

  • Ozu sempre Ozu

  • I remember seeing this film with my late father at a tiny theater in Yurakucho more than a quarter of a century ago. Thanks to both to you for sharing this and the great net technology engineers and entrepreneurs of our time. Quality contents are enjoying the prime time now being shared around the globe with ease.

  • Ozu is Love.

  • I can hear Le Hogon from the same album going with Ohayo.

  • @cephylus Ah, good choice...

  • Nicely done. "Late Spring" is one of the finest and most moving films ever made. It was wonderful to see these clips.

  • That is coool!!!!! I love it!

  • Great, great tribute.

  • i love this movie, the beauty lies in it's simplicity and subtlety

  • This is a beautiful tribute to one of the most beautiful films ever made. Thanks.

  • The first Ozu film I saw. I felt like I walked out of a dream. Everything around me looked different, I felt different. The film hit my like the softest lightning bolt in the world. What a great humanitarian artist Ozu was.

  • Perfectly described. "the softest lightning boltin the world"... love that expression!

  • This movie is so close to my heart. This is a lovely tribute. The loving bond between Father and Daughter and the societal traditions and cycle of life that transitioned out their living together was beautifully sad. I love the DVD translation I have where the father says - you must transfer your love and caring to your husband. I will be watching you with confidence. That still touches me deeply as well as the daughter's profound thank you and honor to her father b4 she get's married.

  • I agree with breathoflifepictures. The word "perfect" completely describes this film.

  • Noriko kicks ass.

  • @newsradiohead Couldn't have said it better myself!

  • segoy!

  • The images/music mix is moving. Thanks. What about the music?

  • Thanks, the song is from the album "Mali Music" by Damon Albarn and several Malian musicians. You remind me to put that in the creds/tags.

  • nice tribute to a perfect film
