I thought this game (the wii version) would be good. I played this game and it isn't all that good. I learned how to aim the ball, but even with that, I just naturally just always want to hit it cross-court. The thing that I hate about this version is that it's very slow-paced (even with the star attached). I wish I bought the GC version instead. But the best mario tennis is the GBA version.

i'm new on the wii scene and some games on the wii are not even worth DOWNLOADING FOR FREE let alone buy. I HATE this crap with the tennis and other games that u sacrifice accuracy just for the fun of swinging the remote...

where did the normal playstyle go, where u could hit the ball and AIM with the joypad where u want it to go

for getting that experience download the classic Mario tennis on the nintendo 64 or buy the gamecube version of this. i love the wii but 3 rd party devolopers dont do a very good job thou. Goldeneye and The counduit is awesome thou and some others but the Nintendo franchises is awsome .:D

I am glad you reviewed this game. I was curious how this game would control on the Wii (as my brother got it on his Gamecube that we had a blast).

I agree with Kwing about the hitting of the ball being really hard to do! It took me forever to charge for a power shot, and when I finally got to it, I did the defense instead of the offense!

The gamecube was only ever intended as a kind of thing to keep things going untill the wii was to be released apparently they could of released the wii sooner but they wanted it perfect before it was released, although they were honest about the gamecubes tempory status when it was released they said it's games would be compatible with the wii. I bought this game the other day, and I haven't played it yet, although I have motion plus. I wonder if the guy who reviewed it did?

Cheers I bought this second hand for five pounds my daughter loves it(she's 4). I haven't played it on anything but easy but it was very responsive! I didn't get it for the gamecube so it's new to me anyway! I would give it 10/10 so far!

i kinda thought of the new play control idea, myself, but i don't think it was a good idea. in fact, i cannot believe that nintendo would be lazy enough to port old games instead of releasing new ones! these people redefined gaming in the 80's, and now they are doing whatever gets them the most money. they even got rid of the quality assurance team. unbelievable!

I agree that some of the minigames are frustratingly hard with Wii controls (if only because performing a lob somehow became near impossible), but what you said about the game itself I can't agree with. At first I thought the controls were awkward enough, but I spent a few hours trying to figure out how everything worked, and now I get nearly all of my shots right. Practice does make perfect.

I totally disagree with your review! I bought both versions (The Wii version first, but then I sold it and bought the GC version instead) and to be honest, they're barely different! The Wii version isn't that unresponsive, and sometimes I have a hard time with the Gamecube version too. But I personally think Nintendo should stop making these New Play Control Games, and give us brand new games. I would mention what they are, but due to limits I have to stop. And why did you favorite this?

since i aculy play tennis so doing this is easy and to beat the last people in star dome get the enimy cpu(s) on one side then hit the ball at a low angle at the other side i beat them after a week today at a realy close game 2 to 2 sets 2 to 2 games 7 to 6 in tie breaker

It''s all timing, just like in wii sports tennis. If you hit it early, right timing or late depends on which direction it will go. Kinda hard, took me a while to get used to it.

I don't know. The controls actually seem pretty realistic. I've played real tennis and if you don't make a proper move you're going to either miss the ball or hit it WAY off. I think it just requires a heavy learning curve just like Guitar Hero. Backhand moves the ball moves right and the forehand move move the ball left. And depending on what move you do depends on how the ball acts, so that means you CAN aim your shots. Learning Tennis is pretty hard and it takes practice! Sorry Kwing. ^^;

This game was really amazing on the Nintendo GameCube; one of my brothers once borrowed it and we couldn't stop playing it because it was outstandingly fun and totally awesome!

When I first saw this game was re-made for the Wii, I thought that it would have a better gameplay, and so the game itself would be even better. But after watching this, I would actually like to rent it, borrow it or try it out somewhere, to see if the remake's gameplay really is worse by nature or not. For now, no words.

I don't think the game is that bad on Wii. I unfortunately missed out on the Gamecube version, so I picked this game up cause I LOVE the Mario Tennis games. I admit, the controls can be 'iffy' at times, and most of the time cost me my game... It's as if it was situational for me to lose.

But it's still fun. I couldn't put it down after I got my shots right and stuff. So it all comes down to the user... Somewhat. Maybe a NEW Mario Tennis Wii with Wii Motionplus would be nice. Actually, is WILL!

It does, but only with GC games, not for Wii games. You need to plug in the 'Classic Controller' into your Wiimote for doing old-fashioned controls with Wii games.

I personally think this game is good, but it's just that you have to have patience with it. (Also, if you have the GC version, you're probably not gonna be as used to this as a person who's starting fresh with Power Tennis.)

I was really disappointed why the game's gameplay is more crappy than the Gamecube version. I bet that this game was rushed to make the game have Wii controls but not tendency to make it look like someone was playing tennis like in Wii Sports. That is the major downfall of the game and its a good thing I stayed away from it.
