Billie Joe is a HUGE Replacements fan and also a big fan and friend of Jesse Malin. It's so amazing when people don't have any idea what they're talking about. "This kind of music" whaaaaa? The punkest thing ever was for Billie Joe to say screw you and then write the book for American Idiot, the musical. He's not standing on the shoulders, he is a giant of punk and can therefore redefine the rules.

They're old stuff and even their freaking background is all about this sort of influence. :P Their 21 Guns, Holiday, and newer signals may not seem like it, but really, their 200 other songs during the 90s show a lot of the good old influences.. Blues, country, Rock N' Roll, punk rock, etc. Whereas now, they're quite Alternative. XD
