Very clever tactic Al... but, for what it's worth, I'm sure your mate's 'left-overs' got the best deal because I always felt that guys with a good sense of humour were the sexiest. They certainly 'did it' for me... even more so, these days!
Anyone know what happened to Mike Morris (or other members of the band)? My brother and I knew Mike on a slightly more persona level but eventually lost track of him when he went back to England in the late sixties... would love to catch up with him again. I thought he was very talented and felt the band should have had more success than they did... but I suspect it was just bad timing.
These guys were really good Jeannie! The lead singer reminds me of my youth. I always went out chasing after the girls with a good looking bugger like him. He would attract loads of girls and.....now and then (well lets face it he couldn't have them all) I'd get one or two!! Clever eh?
However back to the point...these guys should have made it much bigger. I suppose it shows that talent isn't always enough...pity!
Mind you Old Groucho Marx with the cigar in the background was a Hollywood star!

Is this an original song? I remember hearing this in the mid/early 60's on my little crystal set. Probably pulling in 2SM or 2UW way after my bedtime :). Probably been over 45 years since I last heard it and I recognised it immediately. Great stuff.
Hi sandijean, I was there on Saturdays at the Hurstville Rivoli - such great band. I was fortunate enough to go to an after Riv' party one night at John Shaw's house - that was a blast. The Allusions left the Rivoli to play at in the Allawah Hotel and the band that I was in got the gig at The Rivoli!! Apart from their very good original songs, their covers of The Beatles songs such as 'Dr Robert' and 'Drive My Car' were perfect. They were excellent musicians. Such good times . .
I love the Allusions, they were a big part of my teenage years when they performed every Friday night at the Rivoli at Parramatta. So to Michael Morris, John Shaw, Terry Hearne & Bruce Davis, thankyou for making my mid teens so memorable.
The Allusions had a brief career in the mid sixties. I reckon they deserved a better shot, they were a tight, professional band that made good music..
Mike Morris, lead singer here, looks hauntingly like a member of Molly Meldrum's family .. could almost be Molly's brother , actually ...

@Aussiegirl1957 I must admit that I don't know if this is an original song or not.

@SixtiesPopGold The Dancer was an orignal song by THE ALLUSIONS and was penned by Mike Morris the lead singer and guitarist in this clip.

Hey that's great - thanks for posting ! I reckon they are trying to imitate the Beatles - the lead singer even reminds me of Paul McCartney !

@rod280459 I really think that it was the sound of the 60s and not them trying to imitate the Beatles at all!
