It was an upset at the time that people thought was of Appy State caliber, but Michigan was #24 at the time. Nobody knew that Utah would end up destroying Alabama (who was also a surprise) and nobody knew that Michigan would suck that bad. Ironically, this game turned out to be Michigan's best game all year.

At the time it seemed like it, but then #9 Wisconsin turned out to not be very good, losing a close one to an Ohio State team yet to find their offense, blown out by Penn State and Iowa, beating Cal Poly thanks to a missed XP (Cal Poly was the better team if you saw the game), and then got dumptrucked by a not that good Florida State team. While it was an exciting game, the comeback against Wisconsin turned out to not be the Stanford over USC repeat that it initially looked like.

True, it was an exciting comeback. Reminded me of the 2005 comeback that Penn State mounted against Northwestern. If you remember in that game they were just getting wiped, but Penn State came back to win 34-29, which set the stage for a season that seemed to restore their confidence in their ability to play.

To be honest, I think based on the way Utah played late in the season, they could have beaten Ohio State, Penn State, Oklahoma, and maybe even Florida and USC in a bowl game. TCU also looked impressive late in the year (I think in a rematch, they could have kept it close with Oklahoma and maybe even won).

Utah gained very little yds in the 2nd half, and we started coming back, if it wasnt for the missed 2 point con. it might be a different story. This game made my day as a Penn State fan. It quieted Michigan fans who predicted a trip to the Rose Bowl or even a national championship. I think realistically Michigan is going to struggle, but not suck this year, kind of like the 2004 Buckeyes. They'll lose to Illinois, Penn State, and Ohio State to finish 8-4 and 5-3 in Big Ten play. I see them beating Wisconsin in a close game because Wisconsin is frankly a little overrated and it's in Ann Arbor. Outback or Alamo is the likely bowl.
