  • super duo solo guitar

  • Guys, this isn't for me, it's for a guy at my school, but if you can check out a guy named David Katich, he covered this song, it's amazing, and he deserves recognition. watch?v=QiL7o7b8RF0&feature=share

  • I love this song it gives me chills every time i hear it his voice is haunting and the lyrics are beautiful

  • Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina, where they gonna bury me?

  • 0.26 Eric Wareheim on pedal steel.

  • This was right after he left Wookietown, wasn't it?

  • The master of changing his apperance. thanks for all the great music and the music that is already recorded and not release. dont think i dont know. love you brother, cant wait to see you solo. like old times.

  • Sounding good, looking good.

  • for some reason "let it rock me in the arms of strangers angles untill it brings me home" and "tennessees a brother to my sister carlina where there gonna bury me" gives me more chills than just about any other lines ever recorded in music history and i just love the conviency of them both being in the same song :D

  • @uzzername007 Fabulous comment. Certainly the last song I want to hear before departing this earth. I'm sure that you meant "strangers angels." Strangers' angles suggest people conning one another. Ryan's all about moving towards some state of grace. He is one day bound to be considered one of the greatest American songwriters ever. Take care.

  • The British magazine Melody Maker is about this dude.

  • Certain songs just rip and pull at the core of who you are.

it never ceases to amaze me that regardless of the times one of his tracks has played it still has the power to give me goosebumps, Let It Ride is one of those tracks, every time i hear it. To me that's the hallmark of being a true artist. I remember having a watch party for this performance at a friends house. What a great nite.

  • such a rad looking guitar!!

  • Great music, nice guitar! A great Gretsch with a Bigsby tremmelo....

    Amazing band!

  • I love that not only is Ryan an amazing musician and writer...he is a huge fan of music and knows so many obscure bands!!!! he's so brilliant.....his mind is so fast....too talented for his own damn good! I love him! I love his lips, too! yum! thanks for posting this!

  • That line really hits me. People ask me where I'm from quite a lot. I've lived about half of my life in Tennessee and half of it in North Carolina. Some in Georgia. I never know what to say. I just say "I'm from the south". But that line "Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina, where are they gonna bury me, I don't know..." just sums it up. Wonderful line among many in this song, and so many more.

  • NOTHING WILL EVER TOP RYAN'S MEGGA HIT SUMMER OF 69

  • @killdaclownz dont make me open diz can o whip crakka! show some respect fooool!

  • @killdaclownz You are thinking of Bryan Adams not Ryan Adams

  • @killdaclownz Fuck you.

  • @jcacc77 SWEET MELT.....JUST LIKE YOUR HERO RYAN "SUMMER OF 69" ADAMS. HE MELTS SO MUCH HE HAD TO QUIT THE BUSINESS

  • Great music. I could listen to him all day.

  • I hate country but this I can get into.

  • @l33tpwnzord that's because its not exactly country, its alt / country

  • Greatest song writer since Neil Young or Bob Dylan...

  • @neilfan1971 That is profoundly true. Ryan has an unreal talent for producing quality material time after time. One of the true greats of music.

  • @neilfan1971 Yeah. He3 has a lot of Neil Young in him. Especially in his stage presence.

  • Who is that playing bass and singing with hi, in this video?

  • @arrowheadblake Catherine Popper

  • I've never seen ole ryan with a beard. It's kinda cool

  • I wanna see you tonight

    Dancing in the endless moonlight

In the parking lot in the headlights of cars

    Someplace on the moon

Where they moved the drive-in theater

Where I left the car that I can't find but I still got the keys to

  • thats a beautiful fackin guitar

  • im thinkin he needs to keep that beard

  • great artist, and such a cutie pie.

  • @humanfarm Only a no-body would say something like that. Congrats.

  • Absolutely love how live sounds like the album but not in a lip syncing way. In a raw sort of way.

  • This is my favourite tune to play on the guitar.

  • better version

    watch?v=tLGrmxz_E50&p=DEF91D67547C4B88&playnext=1&index=17

  • i miss catherine popper

  • I love Ryan Adams, since whiskeytown, and when you hear the acoustic version when someone plays it you automatically fall in love even more

  • "I wanna see you tonight, dancing in the endless moonlight - in the parking lot in headlights of cars - someplace on the moon, where they moved the drive-in theatre where I left the car that I can't find that I still got the keys to" - my favorite lyrics ever

  • @asheebee89 Mine too!

  • So fricking good.

  • People have horrible aim! I swear! 22 clicked the dislike button.

He doesnt have on horrible song for me to dislike.

  • Brilliant song!!!!!!!

  • RA is a songwriting genius

  • One of my all time favorite songs. Love it. I hope Ryan never really goes "mainstream".

  • Like this

  • Ryan's got the young Neil Young look going on here.

  • @AntagonistGaming - i think the correct term is the 'i'm addicted to speedballing' look.

  • I like it. I'm very short with these responses, yet I like it. Drum rhythm resonates in me of some kinda of bitchin'/country/dance hall track

  • what a beautiful bass-girl! :D

  • @deep2k4 Yes, that's Catherine Popper. She does it for me too!

  • Ryan is the man in this video!!!

  • Awesome bra

  • So country now but even that it sound great. Just a few musicians like Ryan can do such thing, modify any song and still hearing awesome.

  • Who knew the Geico caveman had such an amazing voice.

  • letterboy loves em

  • first bass player for the cardinals.. can't remember her name..

  • Catherine Popper

  • this is a pretty fuckin good song.

  • I've still got the keys to my S10 that the tow company stole from me two years ago and when I find it I'm going to drive to Omaha and start a new life. Fuck you Allied towing.

  • i gotta say, i dig that hair.

  • There's a local group called Wise Old River that does a really good acoustic cover of this song.

  • @Armagedn12 where might i find that cover?

  • It cracks me up that you never really see his face.

  • i know he looks like such a rapist lmao :L

  • Drugs and music.

  • "Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina where they're gonna bury me"

    awesome line

  • @pigpen4483 my thoughts exactly

  • @pigpen4483 i love this line as well apparently its acknowledging the drummer Brad Pemperton because he's from the great state of TN. When I saw the cards at they're "final" gig in ATL, Ryan delivered the line with a glance at Brad who appropriately pointed his drumstick back at him.

  • haha. ryan in his werewolf phase. :)

  • Its alternative country, not fucking glam rock, saying that he doesn't have to do anything on stage except for singing his heart out.

  • boo hoo

  • @cultrox that was most likely the speedballing...

  • have you ever seen him live? if you then think he sucks...go and watch u2, coldplay and beyonce

  • i like the way it's about the music. just about the songs.

i don't need anything more to enjoy it.

  • You should really see him and The Cardinals live before you say anything about their performance abilities. I would put his band up there with Phish as far as best live performers. It sucks that you wont be able to see them though cause Ryan doesnt play music anymore.

  • cultrox i think i could disagree with you anymore. Ive been to many shows but none have come close to the l dont ive ryan adams show i saw feb of this year. Not only did he have crazy stage energy jumping around but he was extremely funny cracking jokes wit the band and the crowd which made u feel like ure part of the band. his concerts are intimate and great he is an excellent frontman. plus this video is on a tv and during his big drug period so u cant judge his shows on his

  • i don't think*

  • Watch Touch, Feel, and Lose. Maybe that will change your mind

  • I meant to give it a thumbs up! oh dear

  • its all cool. that touch feel lose performance is something huh? he totally goes crazy awesome gospel on everyones!

  • one of my fave for sho

  • More like speed balls day's.....

  • is this during his heroin days?

  • oh yeah

  • Does he have any bad songs? The guy is a melody machine.

  • hell no =)

  • totally not a bad one in the whole massive batch!!

  • Oh yes...and I'm as big a Ryan Adams fan as anyone. Don't listen to "Love is Hell"...ever

  • Comment removed

  • @mpwall5813 "Love is Hell" is a really good album. Some real gems on there.

  • @gophertele yes he does have bad songs. it's called the ORION album. in my opinion that album is trash. other than that though...

  • @TheRiversOwn orion makes me laugh occasionally and that is good enough for me to give it a spin every now and then. rock on ghorgon

  • @gophertele also a brilliant songwriter

  • i wanna see you tonight dancing on the endless moonlight in a parking lot where there are lots of cars someplace on the moon where they moved the drive-in theaters i lost the car that i cant find that i still got the keys to... great lyrics!
  • "...parking lots in the headlights of cars..." not 'where there are lots of cars': )

  • hahah he looked so cool during his werewolf phase... now i think Mandy has the guy wipped.... as-long as hes happy i guess

  • Viva Ryan! One of my favorite songs ever- he always shows up to play so well on Letterman! Great to see him get the Late Show love time & time again in his stompi'n grounds of NYC!

  • wha kind of guitar is ryan playing? I cant see

  • It's a Gretsch Black Falcon.

  • A MUCH better version ?v=tLGrmxz_E50&feature=related

  • Really enjoyed that, hadn't seen it before . Its great to see and hear R A cutting loose on his (lovely) electric guitar. Liked that.

  • Better quality link

    watch?v=tLGrmxz_E50&feature=related

  • Can anyone give me a make and model on Ryan's guitar? I know it's a Gibson(and a Les Paul), but can we get specific here?

  • looks more like a gretsch than a les paul

  • I believe you are correct

  • Looks like a Gretsch G5120

  • I don't know if you're still looking, but It's actually a Gretsch G6136 Black Falcon. You can tell by the headstock.

  • What did that sasquatch do with Ryan Adams?

  • Inevitably when an artist changes their sound and expands or expiraments, like ryan adams has, there will be fans who complain. You're one of those fans. Congrats.

  • I was referring to how he looks. His hair completely covers his face. I love ALL of his music. It was a joke.

  • I also won the "fan who complained when the music changed" award. I love his earlier stuff but a lot of his later music I'm not exactly in love with. This song is good. I'm a musician myself. When I write bad songs I hope my fans give me some feedback as to why the songs are bad so I can improve the music. A ton of bands make bad songs even after they have huge hit songs. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm headed off to write my new hit song "If you don't like the song then change your tune". lol

  • Great song! One of the best on Cold Roses, we do it in our band and I'd say this is my favourite version on here. The Letterman performances are all brilliant!

  • Why these children always talk about Bryan. If you want to talk about Bryan watch his videos and post your comments there!

  • jophcap, you have much to learn.

First of all, to say anyone has a voice 10000 times better than someone else is blasphemy. Second; Bryan Adams, are you fucking kidding me? You say everyone should recognize that as if its some sort of common knowledge. I got news for ya; anyone with any sort of musical knowledge (beyond, "I like this" or, "I like that") would never agree that Bryan Adams shouldn't be serving Ryan Adams tea and cake on a silver fuckin platter. Seriously, dude...just no.

  • What do you mean when you speak about tea and cake??? Please don't tell me that' I've much to learn because i do the conservatory and I now what I'm talking about. I really like that Ryan's song, but Bryan's voice is even better, he can reach note that ryan can't... Bryan's song are also poems with a very deep meaning... I don't wanna argue with you because I respect you opinion, so please let's have a pacific debate! Bye

  • non capisco cosa ci sia da ridere.....

  • Comment removed

  • 1) that fact that he is compared to Bryan Adams is just plain silly. c'mon now. Why not argue about James Deans's movies vs Jimmy Deans links?

    2) he's totally smacked up at this performance

  • James DEAN IS GOD

  • yawn...why even compare...

  • if you think bryan is better than ryan than watch the videos of bryan. ryan adams and bryan adams are two very different persons.

  • you are a fuckin pathetic son of a bitch you get on here and say that one is better than the other for one they are in two diffrent genres of music and two why argue about it just get on here and listen to the fuckin music if you dont like it change the fuckin station...

  • dammit, i didn't hate this.

  • RIP Cardinals. You guys were the best.

  • actually, I was under the impression that Gretsch did make White Falcons in Black.

I was also under the impression that they're still called White Falcons despite the difference in coloration.

I might be wrong, but I was looking into getting one for myself a while ago.

  • Dude I love this guy, but why does he get heckled at like EVERY CONCERT?

  • Lol, why is he so awkward, and why is the song so slow? This song is awesome amazing. Let it ROLL!

  • im 99 percent sure it a falcon

  • Is that a black Gretsch Falcon he's playing?

  • No his last gig is tonight, I believe. I saw them wednesday at minglewood hall in memphis. And it was unreal.

  • i saw him in mobile on thursday night.... his last show was in atlanta on friday. was a good show but you could tell he was upset with the audience shouting at him to play certain songs.

  • Wow...I'm going to see them tonight. If they're anywhere near this good tonight, I think I will have a heart attack. And die happy.

  • i thought his last gig was on the 12th of march? i hope it wasn't !!! i watched his gig in Wellington NZ and its the best i have ever been too.

  • I Missed him when he was in wellington! sucks so bad but hey he wont be able to stay away from music.

  • Yeah i don't believe he is quitting. In an interview with the Cardinals on AOL he states he is working on more songs for the next album...maybe its one of Neal Casals albums not sure but he will be back.

Its such a bummer you missed his gig. It was amazing. there are videos on youtube. just type in ryan adams wellington on the search bar and there are quite a few

  • By all accounts he was at one of his low points around this time, and it shows. He's been clean since 2007.

  • großartiges Lied !

  • I love the Fry Guy!

  • oh come on, give me down thumbs if you want i dont actually care, but i wasnt trying to be in any way insulting or offensive. this version of the song is really good, it does sound fantastic yes.

  • yer... but it sounds fantastic to me

  • dont get me wrong i love Ryan Adams, but it is pretty funny that he just looks like a singing mop in this video.

  • Ryan Adams not Bryan Adams dumb ass..

  • Funny gay... uhm, guy.

  • lol

    grizzly adams

  • Love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are you kidding. he looks like a nyc hipster playing southern music.

  • PeeHoleMcGee, are you talking about hip hop music? Because that is what is juvenile, senseless and classless. You can't be talking about this.

  • love this song!

  • he's like robert downey jnr in fur. I want to shave him.

  • Why worry?

    wheres his face at lol

    great tune

  • wheres his face at lol

    great tune

  • Why did harassing him while he's on stage become a thing? I don't understand paying money to see a person whose music you presumedly like, then trying to annoy him.

  • That guitar is almost as big as him. What a bad ass. Great version of the song. Does anyone have HQ?

  • i will marry you, ms. popper.

  • i fucking love this man.

  • I love ryans songwriting, ive seen him live also..he is a bit of a diva but he is really amazing so i let it ride..

  • Haha i love him, but he must have been loving Neil Young when this was filmed. Text-book Neil Young stance.

  • Ryan is the best song writers and musicians out there. Diva? Haha. I think not. Just because Ryan enjoys listening to Mariah Carey does not mean he is anything like her, or even admires her. Heartbreaker was a random name choice and her poster happened to be there in those 15 seconds he had to decide on an album name.

At least he can admit it.

I love his many phases, they all take some part in his music. He is amazing. Brilliant.

  • Kelsey, I've seen Ryan live around 6 times, including three times in Minneapolis; and at each appearance he's pulled some type of diva maneuver. I love his work, but I don't see how his Diva-hood is even debatable.
