  • Actually Star Trek didn't allow women to captain starships in Kirk's time either-- that's why Janice Lester took over Kirk's body in the last episode.

And when Janeway became a captain, it proved why-- she LOST her ship on the other side of the galaxy!

  • Nah, it's Groundskeeper Willie before he went bald!

  • No political correctness...or health and safety. Can' t wait for the 21st century...

  • @SirBasildeBrush ...you're behind this....

  • @LaVerne37 That scottish accent gave me away...

  • @SirBasildeBrush

Dude, we've BEEN there for the past 10 years-- wake up already!

  • Jock is more like Frazer from 'Dad's Army' than Scotty from 'Star Trek'!

  • They don't make goodies like that anymore !

  • 0:09 "don't let that pretty face fool you".... what? where?

  • @Pollypo66

You don't think Venus is pretty? What are you blind?

  • So, we are using wooden crates to transport space equipment??

As for the PC elements, just watch the first episode.

Venus is introduced with all her credentials, then Steve mentions she makes the best cup of coffee in the galaxy.

Ah, when we gals all knew our place.

  • Gerry Anderson's female characters were pretty capable, and ahead of their time. They were a good influence for kids back in the 1960s.

  • pc! lol it sucks!

  • A friend of mine used to have a crush on Dr Venus. I remember him telling me so a long time ago.

  • Sounds like Mrs Doubtfire or Dame Edna than Scotty, lol.

  • This really was in many ways a precursor to Star Trek....growing up in the 60's you can see this as a stepping stone into science fiction inspiration!

  • Dr Venus is a thinly disguised Gabor sister, the proffesor looks like Bubbles from the trailer park boys.loved this show as a kid despite its political incorrectness

  • 0:21 the guy with his back to the cam has a load in his pants! LOL

  • Imagine! An important mission, led by a mere woman! I guess this really is, "science fiction." Thank goodness there'll be a man, or a robot, to take over, if a critical situation develops. You know are women are.

Good to know they'll still be using wooden crates in the future, though. Even if the Hydro-Crane Operator is as incompetent as a woman.

Hey Dr. Venus, Phd., think ya could get the bridge crew some coffee? Then you can wash the dishes.

Ah, the good 'ol days, of the 21st Century.

  • more proof, why this was such a great show!

  • the crate was full of delithium chystals not tnt

  • Lovin it , He`s a Tootie !!!

  • One of the best episodes is where Steve Zodiac and Venus are skating together on ice. The puppet operators are GENIUS's

  • Jock is an old Mike Mercury puppet. Don't you think?

  • "Don't let that face fool you. She has BRAINS"!!!!

I'll bet that is what they say about Lindsy Lohan too!

This one always cracked me up. In the first episode Steve introduces Venus as "not only a top astrophysicist, but makes a great cup of coffee too."

    I miss the 60s

  • I see sexism hasn't vanished by the 2060's, but hey this is ace

  • This guys voice, sounds like a cross between Scrooge McDuck and Mrs. Doubtfire, this is just too funny.

  • How funny is this?! Think Roddenberry saw it?

Great clip (and title), thanks for posting it.

  • "it should be perfectly simple, but this Hydro-crane operator, Och, he's almost as bad as a woman!"

LOL. The 60's were so fun weren't they?

  • Aye, Cap'n! She'll not take much more a this!

  • I always adored this programme and still do but it has to be said that Venus needed to see an orthodontist about that underbite.

  • i share his concerns

  • fucking shauvinists!!!
