Lol yes it is, When you go into the Citadel of Spiders, one enemy holds a treasure, its a key, when you take it back to your little Ship Pod thing, you unlock Challenge mode, which is Co-op, one person is Olimar and one person is Louie. it's quite fun, but you have limited time per level.

you are thinking of the bully den. the bully den is challenge mode, but it has the same boss.
