  • FINE AS HELL.........

  • Thanks so much for posting. So cool, the best. Anyone know what film the still @ 5.23 is from? Think it's "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison". Never be another like him.

  • such a great actor and so handsome loved cape fear and thounder road still loved and missed RIP robert mitchum

  • Great Actor. I had a uncle that look just like him. When I was small I use to think my uncle was Robert Mitchum. RIP! Robert.

  • someone who had terrific outer masculine beauty, but still could impart this sense that tremendous danger was lurking right behind that enigmatic grin and confident swagger.

  • Robert Mitchum was one of the greats. He was scarier than Freddy Kruger in Night of the Hunter and Cape Fear, but could be tender too. His name belongs with Gregory Peck, William Holden, Anthony Quinn, James Stewart and John Wayne.

  • No one could play a tough guy better. Today's actors don't have that same intensity with the exception of Russell Crowe.

  • He was interviewed by Dick Cavett. Mitchum was amazing. He had it all. He had depth, intelligence, and humor. He was honest in his work.

  • I agree with irened1. I am collecting all his movies. Thanks for all your time and effort for this video tribute. After hearing and reading comments from many film critics they have nothing but praise for his acting and his no chip on his shoulder lifestyle........

  • A great Mitchum sleeper film, The Big Steal from 1949 with Jane Greer. It is on DVD.

  • my favorite movie was river of no return and the way west.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself, Maggie

  • I love the diversity he had. He was terrifying in "Night of the Hunter" and then heartwarming in "Holiday Affair". One of the best ever.

  • Wow---great B&W stills! Robert Mitchum was just way too COOL! They didn't come any cooler than him! I love your Channel, Basil---wonderful! I could sit here all day watching your videos!

  • A true icon of the silver screen.

    Brilliant tribute, man.

  • THANKS FOR THAT TRIBUTE

  • A powerful actor with great credits to his name, rugged good looks blended with a deep

voice and ability to captavate his audience.

Yes he has his place within the Star icons.

    Excellent

    Pierre

  • I'm only 17, but I'm a great fan of him! Thanks for this tribute!

  • A true Icon, got to be one of the greatest of the golden age, always been my favourite.

Most people under the age of 40 don't even know who he is. I quite like that in a way, a true cult figure.
