  • would i have to change any thing if i were to ad 6 instead of 5 like the resister?

  • @The88drunkredneak If you were to add 6 leds instead of 5. You would wire it exactly the same but on the 6th led you would need to wire a 56 Ohm resister to the power. Let me know if this helps.

  • @SAGAPSadmin ok thanks ill give it a try here pretty soon and ill let you know if it works

  • @The88drunkredneak Be sure to check out ** ledcalc . com ** its a great site that allows you to calculate the different types of resisters you'll need for your led project.

    Good luck!!

  • @SAGAPSadmin ok sweet thanks

  • VERY well done video! I would like to thank you for not being one of those people that would turn this into a 15 minute video by saying "Ummm" 648 times. What a relief!

  • @AutoCrete Thanks so much for the kind words and appreciate the support!!

  • Can i use the 10x 10mm Bright Green LED to do the same protect?

  • @kontantino Depends on the Voltage & Current of the led. Link?

  • You know you dont mention that after you purchase all the suplies it actually turns out to be a bit cheaper if you decide to make more. ALSO! i used a slightly bigger box and managed to safely house the battery inside the box. asthetics yes, but much more convenient

  • @Onionlord87 Great idea, you can never have enough IR boosters, right?! However I would disagree with your idea on the battery being inside the box, I would think its much easier to swap out a battery when drain occurs on an investigation, with the battery on the outside, unless you have constructed a panel on the box that opens right to the battery quicker. If you have, post an image of this, would love to check it out!

  • @beedlej00z i actually kinda cheezed it. i just cut a slot into the box and use a strip of electrical tape to hold the battery in. I just like having a more linear shape for the light. makes using it on a camera bracket it a lil easier. i have been trying to find boxes with hinges though.... that would be perfect.

  • Great stuff. You should be running the education system. Your professionalism is outstanding

  • @rodrickau Thanks for the kind comment and support!

  • Is there a way you could build this so it runs off of a wired power source instead of battery? I have a lot of AC/DC transformers....I'm trying to catch my neighbor throwing crap at my house....

  • Longer side on the switch is + shorter side is -

  • @gamewiz0070 Your statement is true, but in his build we used a simple 2 pin toggle on/off switch to complete the circuit using just the negative wires..

  • @SAGAPSadmin Oh, i see awesome

  • How different would it be to build this but with adding UV lights as well? I want to combine the IR and UV lights together with two switches to operate them. Thank you so much

  • @Manoahw If you want to build a Full Spectrum booster using both UV & IR leds be sure to calculate the the load and power supply to determine the best resister for the build. A Great website to determine this is ledcalc.com

  • @SAGAPSadmin Thanks a lot, I am building one for a Christmas present to my girlfriend. your video is fantastic. thank you

  • @Manoahw Sounds like a great X-Mas gift! Good luck and thanks for the support!

  • just built your IR booster for a GoPro camera, it will illuminate objects very close to the lens - 3" but nothing farther away. any ideas?

  • @mailleo1 I just got a GoPro as well But.. Most good cameras have an IR cut filter in front of the imager to block the IR because it is really hard to get it to focus at the same point as other visible light producing blurry soft images. I haven't pulled the lens off of a GoPro yet but I would expect to see a light blue IR blocking filter sitting right over the sensor. You can contact Ragecams.com who specializes in replacement lenses for the GoPro and they can remove the IR filter for you :)

  • What's the battery life like?

  • @mrgrim333 It varies depending on the brand of batteries you use. I've tested Duracell's and they start really dimming @ 8-9hrs+, Energizer at 7-9hrs+, Rayovac at 4-6hrs.

  • great vid man!....but can an opponent see the light coming from the LED's if they don't have night vision?

  • @irishpitbull22 You'll see a slight dim light red glow from the leds . Not enough to see in the dark with..

  • This video is fantastic for a complete novice such as myself. How could this be converted to using a wall wart... house current?

  • If you get the 4x2x1" box and use some 3m mounting tape you can put the 9v inside

  • I just built one using 8, 10mm IR leds in a project box the size up from the one you used in the video. I made the holes using an old soldering iron which just so happen to be the same size as the LEDs and used hot glue to hold them in place. I carefully bent the leads on the LEDs so the positive and negative crossed. by bending the leads so close to the base of the LED I was able to use some thin foam so I could mount the battery inside the box. I also added a green led for a power light

  • @oepolish Sounds like a great build. Take some pictures or a video to share your build ideas with the community .

    Thanks

    SAGAPS

  • @SAGAPSadmin I was so pleased with that design that I plan on making a few more. I'll put up a build vid for the next ones I make.

  • i used 6, 5mm infered leds at 150mW and no resistor. It works nearly the same. Im happy with it, might want to try it that way if ya want. Otherwise everything else is put togather the same. Thanks you saved me a ton of money.

  • @71randyp No worries glad the video was of help! :)

  • definitely should have wired the LED's in parallel, over series; might go through batteries a bit faster, but would have made things a lot brighter. -Joe

  • hello again and dont wory i used a hot shoe accessory and addded it to bottom of the project box works a treat and slots on like normal accesory to the flash bar nice work keep it up

  • hi there awsome vid m8 keeps investagtive costs down, kit can be really expensive and most ir boosters dont hold a charge for very long ONE QUESTION THOUGH ? any idea how to securley attach the booster to accessory shoe? many thanks and keep up the good work

  • great video thanks...can you use the same set up with uv light??

  • I can use 8 mm LED, which would have to change??

  • @IVANUMANZOR 8mm is referring to the actual size of the IR led.. I would need to know the voltage the IR could handle.. Chances are if its 1.5v Led you should be fine..

  • @SAGAPSadmin this are led to buy in ebay 10x 8mm 3Chips 60deg 200mW Infrared IR LED Night Vision and when I connect only camera sees a small blue light. use the camera on my LG KC910 ... the light is so small that I have to have it at a distance of 5 "in the wall ... and the human eye only see a small red light .... you could give me your email for more questions, thanks. ...

  • @IVANUMANZOR Yikes you're attempting to use your LG KC910 camera phone. Hmmm... I know some LG phones come with a INFARED PORT, this is a port that can send and receive data using infrared light but has nothing to do with the camera. So chances are your LG phone wont be compatible with zero lux situations with or without an IR booster.. Bottom line it'll be limitation of your camera phone. Feel free to email me from the SAGAPS youtube channel if you have any more questions.

  • hello friend, I have a question: This light works with all types of digital camera or camera only with the options you have night vision??

hola amigo, tengo una pregunta: esta luz funciona con todo tipo de camara digital o solo con las camaras que tienes la opciones de vision nocturna???

  • @IVANUMANZOR The light will work with all sony nightshot and IR dvr systems... To test your camera hold the IR booster in front of your camera and see if it its sensitive to infrared light. If it is chances are these boosters will work with it..

  • Wow, great instructions, and the text overlay makes it super easy to follow. You can tell a lot of time was invested in to make this great.

  • I'm going to give this a shot! Great instructional!!!

  • @ciapalajm Thanks & Good luck!

  • Thats awesome! thank you

  • This is a great video man. I saw this video the other day and stopped by radio shack to check on the led's, but they didn't have the ones I needed. This is an awesome presentation. I favorited this video. I have used lights similar to this and they are just as good if not better than the sony lights. If people learn to make these lights they will save a lot of cash.

  • Nice Job!

  • Nice job Monkey Boy!!!

  • Thanks for the super clear, detailed instructions! I feel like I can tackle this no problem thanks to u. Great job on the video and the saldering - much respect.

  • @i8nutmeg Thanks!! :)

  • dude that's awesome! I'm totally doing this tonight!

  • Excellent vid! Not everyone can afford a 40-50$ booster..this is a great alternative.. if your competent in electrical hardware.
