@tarmis2006 that is how i think of it now. yet when you grow up in the arctics and that is all you know, then it is just fine to be there....and that's so true, people love their city and they badly want to leave. when they live it, they badly want come back ... (for a couple years)

It's my hometown. I left it when I was 19. Still love it much, there is something special about the people, the environment. When you cut-off from the rest of the world for 2-3 weeks, you get to feel real spirit of the Arctics. Yes, we have no homeless, guess why. Yes, the trees don't grow there. Yes, we suppose not to go to school when it's really cold & some of us still go to hang with friends, jump in a snow, play with the wind. Yes, we've seen snow in June. And yes, we still love our city =)
@MyFirstTubeName Norilsk is one of the major industrial centers of Russia, so the city closed, entrance is closed to tourists, foreigners there just to let important matters. My friend went there to work and told me
@WorldRevolutionDisco Is there a reason you left? Is it because it is one of the most polluted cities on earth, with clouds of sulfur and acid rain, causing all trees within 19 miles to die? How can you love it!?!?
@SonicGeneration lol, that perception is funny, i've never heard that before. lol usually people say we ride deer and stuff like that...by the way it's one of the cleanest places you can find, you can drink water from lakes & it's good! you have to live there to get why one would love it. it's somewhat like burning man, you have experience it to get it.
For the last 10 years it has been my dream to go visit there and do some serious Trekking and meet the awesome people Norilsk has to offer but I supose it will never happen because we are not allowed In. Thank you for the wonderful video my friend!

My history teacher told my class "If any of you become a tyrant who takes over the world, DO NOT invade Russia! You will fail!" And this video shows why you would fail. :P
Look its a great looking place ..steel shatters at -70 remember?ok , lets look at another facet of it , real estate is cheap as chips for a wealthy place and there is no blow ins from down south as the deros cant get to Norilsk by road or rail . great place , must go ..
In Marlinja NT Australia we get temps of 50 degrees plus in Summer , here you are talking about MINUS 54 degrees !!!! Norilsk is a great place , I admire those who live there and It is High on my bucket list to go there in the middle of winter . I told the wife that She Will Be Standing In Front of That Temp Guage and She Will Have Her Photo Taken There By Me . Her reaction "good go !"
special for foreigners some were asking what is said there: -it suppose to be waRM -10. 0.30 -our parents are getting job under the convoy of special vehicle 0.50 -the city was build by jailers 1.00 -there is no bums in city 1.03 -new imported buses were given to city 1.16 -our north-west wind smells sulfur and south west smells chlorine 1.48 -there is snowfalls in june 2.05 -have no trees 2.09 -we like Norilsk and at same time we are dreaming to live it 2.41-2.46
i am living in Ukraine and there is no - 54 ))) at winter we have -20 -30 i am happy.
About WW2 Hitler was bitten because slovjane were fighting for there freedom and motherland. I think nowadays not many people in the world can fight to death on battlefields .
Connecticut doesn't know what winter is....... Stupid whiners complaining after the first snowstorm and not knowing where to put the snow.... tsk tsk tsk
Fck yeah. I am from city not far from Norilsk, and our winters are fckin cold indeed. Coz it is Siberia. 30-35 C sub-zero is average temperature of our winter.
But guys, you still dont know the worst thing.
In fact, winter begins in october and ends in april. So it lasts SIX months out of twelwe.
@guromaon i heard the life expectancy is in the low 40s. its one of the most polluted places on earth. there isn't a single living tree within 30 miles of one certain nickel smelter.
@guromaon Nah, it's not true. I myself lived there for 17 years. First, you may leave if you wish, but many people prefer to stay there and have much bigger salary than in average in Russia. They also have bigger pensions and after retirement they may relocate to a warmer place. Those people who were born there, like me, will love this unique city for the rest of their lives, because of great people living there.
@ShowtekGER Most only live in Southern Russia, where it's more inhabitable. I suppose the people there adapt to it, and wouldn't have it any other way, otherwise I guess they would have left.
4 million tons of heavy metals are released in the air here per year, it is one of the 3 most polluted places on earth, in 2008 they announced that it was then economically feasible to mine the soil b/c of the heavy metal pollution. 1% of the entire global emissions of sulfur dioxide comes from this one city. According to CNN there is not a single living tree within 48 km of the nickel smelter Nadezhda ("The Hope").
@lichwind Napoleon and Hitler never was in Norilsk its far Siberia, crazy town for living, but good for money, gas, petrolium, metalurgy. In Soviet era people after worked 3 years in this condisions back to Europian Russian part and take good homes and cars, only after 3-5 years of work, today its no so good but good money.Hard work, hard life but with happy end:)
@lichwind Ha-ha! Hitler and Napoleon fought in northern Siberia? Norilsk - coordinates: 69 ° 20 'north latitude.
Stalingrad - 48 ° 40 'north latitude. Kursk - 51 ° 40 'north latitude. In Ukraine and Belarus are the same temperature as in Central Europe. Attacked - will get. They were all fucked in the ass.
@lichwind Lol, you are stupid moron, brainwashed by american propaganda. Hitler and Napoleon failed because of strength of spirit, heroism of Russian soldiers and smartness of russian people. Napoleon got his ass kicked under Moscow in early september when temperature was +20, and Hitler lost during first week in june more troops than during whole French or Polish companies. And Norilsk is thousand kilometers to north and east from european russian part. Enemies were fucked usually before moscow
@AlexanderTch Supid Moron is YOU! Russians lost more men at the Battle of Borodino than French and RETREATED after the battle surrendering Moscow to Napoleon. Is that russian idea of "kicking ass"?
@dm1968r Nonsense! Battle of Borodino French losses - 30,000–35,000. Russians 39,000–45,000.
Battle of Berezina French -15,000 combatants 20,000 stragglers (most sick and civilians traveling with the army). Russian losses - 8,000-15,000 combatants. Nowhere even remotely approaching "destruction of Napoleon's army". Which was already retreating out of Russia as fast as they could. It was total waste of cannon fodder.
@dm1968 Stupid Kid! Why I need to look at all that? I studied history in Moscow USSR. Official Russian version repeated so many times to the point of getting nauseous. And BTW official Russian version of Borodino losses was 65 000.
The coldest city in the world. Fabulous !!! It would be great to be in Norylsk in winter (- 60 C) and drink vodka with russian people during polar night. Let me in! What should I do to get permission to go to Norylsk?
@lichwind u stupid..they failed cuz they lost to russian army not to the fucking weather..tipical american propaganda..they didnt even went north fool
is anybody can tell me about a road to link Norilsk from rest of Russia ? To Krasnoyarsk for example ? How is built the entire city ? How a lot of cars and special tools arrived there ? I look on the map and I can`t find a road.
Yes I should like to visit this place, even if I know, is not possible for me :(
@razvanzaharescu74 there are no roads to that place - you can fly by plane or you can deliver cargo by ships (port of Dudinka is 100 km. from Norilsk on Enisey river which in connected to the Arctic ocean - actually Norilsk- Dudinka is the only road (and railroad !) in that region- you may look here on youtube for Russian nuclear icebreakers which have been built to help convoys of cargo ships to reach those destinations on Russia's Arctic ocean coast
@vfr7509 Thank you ! Yes I have seen about Yamal....ice breaker
well, the only way is by plane or from Kara sea to Dudinka
I am from Bucharest -Romania. Ani way, my old Audi will be frozen , but i guess is a special destination I should like to meet the people, their life, a lot of things

Wow, amazing city. Great video, great photos and a nice music. I think it must be too hard to live in a city like Norilsk.
Regards from Mexico.

is it true that people from this city dont live more than 50 years?

@guromaon true
NearTheLimits 11 months ago
@guromaon i heard the life expectancy is in the low 40s. its one of the most polluted places on earth. there isn't a single living tree within 30 miles of one certain nickel smelter.
LMA629 11 months ago

They were all fucked in the ass.
dm1968r 10 months ago 10
@lichwind Lol, you are stupid moron, brainwashed by american propaganda. Hitler and Napoleon failed because of strength of spirit, heroism of Russian soldiers and smartness of russian people. Napoleon got his ass kicked under Moscow in early september when temperature was +20, and Hitler lost during first week in june more troops than during whole French or Polish companies. And Norilsk is thousand kilometers to north and east from european russian part. Enemies were fucked usually before moscow
AlexanderTch 9 months ago 38
@AlexanderTch Supid Moron is YOU! Russians lost more men at the Battle of Borodino than French and RETREATED after the battle surrendering Moscow to Napoleon. Is that russian idea of "kicking ass"?
ssmusic214 8 months ago
@ssmusic214 Battle of Borodino?
/ / French data :
Losses on both sides about the same - 30-40 thousand on each side.
The Battle of Berezina November 26-29, 1812
/ / French data :
French losses - 30,000 to 40,000 dead, wounded or captured.
Russian losses - 4000 to 6000 killed and wounded.
War of 1812, the result - almost complete destruction of Napoleon's army.
Come again: D: D: D
dm1968r 8 months ago
@dm1968r Nonsense! Battle of Borodino French losses - 30,000–35,000. Russians 39,000–45,000.
Battle of Berezina French -15,000 combatants 20,000 stragglers (most sick and civilians traveling with the army). Russian losses - 8,000-15,000 combatants. Nowhere even remotely approaching "destruction of Napoleon's army". Which was already retreating out of Russia as fast as they could. It was total waste of cannon fodder.
ssmusic214 8 months ago
@ssmusic214 you are a great dreamer :D
See - fr.wikipedia.o r g/wiki/Bataille_de_la_Bérézina
See - en.wikipedia.o r g/wiki/French_invasion_of_Russia
Result - Decisive Russian victory
Destruction of French Allied Army !
dm1968r 8 months ago
@dm1968 Stupid Kid! Why I need to look at all that? I studied history in Moscow USSR. Official Russian version repeated so many times to the point of getting nauseous. And BTW official Russian version of Borodino losses was 65 000.
ssmusic214 8 months ago
@AlexanderTch usualy but not always, Poland beaten You down and captured your capital, but i guess thats just the exception which confirms the rule.
Back to the topic, humans got no business being there.

is anybody can tell me about a road to link Norilsk from rest of Russia ? To Krasnoyarsk for example ? How is built the entire city ? How a lot of cars and special tools arrived there ? I look on the map and I can`t find a road.
Yes I should like to visit this place, even if I know, is not possible for me :(
razvanzaharescu74 1 year ago
