  • I once had a lock through my back wheel, one through my saddle, one through my front wheel and one around the frame... and the thieves stole my rear axle. When I rode the bike away the rear wheel fell out. Anyone know how to lock a rear axle?

  • i hate thief's

  • That is a crappy way to lock a bike!

  • ...and when you come back your saddle is missing.

  • Who wants to carry all of that? There must be a better way.

  • Hi Kevin

  • lol i could that nice front wheel in 10 seconds with a cheap pair of bolt cutters

  • rubbish

  • @rosan969 why do you think it's rubbish? I plan on getting a bike and if you know a better way to lock your bike please tell me. It's better that I learn now. :)

  • Let the air out of the tires and he will move on to the next bike

  • What' the point of that cable lock? As soon as you've broken the D-lock it simply falls off.

  • @tonowicz1 prevents the thief from taking the front wheel using a wrench/quickrelease

  • @tonowicz1 I reckon someone wants to sell cable locks :)

  • @tonowicz1 It is used to prevent someone from stealing your front wheel. Mostly to avoid a crime of opportunity, not really to stop the theft of the bike (that is the d-locks job).

  • @tonowicz1 Its because of the front-wheel, i think the bike is very expensive

  • A nyeregcsövet kihagyta.

  • I see so many of those little cables lying around near bike stands... they're ridiculously easy to cut through. The correct way of locking is to get a second strong lock for your front wheel.

  • D locks can be opened with a pen

     so i dont recommend them...

  • @mrolegkorol Older ones yes. Lock makers have made better models now. U locks can still be broken with a car jack, but it's not quite as inconspicuous as the old Bic method.

  • @mrolegkorol They stopped using the round type key a while ago.

  • Bye bye front wheel.

  • Nore81 was correct. Regardless of the way the D-lock is located, the cable lock is dependent on it. Also, the cable is useless, ad it is easy to snip. Proper way is to have a thick chain with its own lock in order to attach the front wheel and frame to the bike rack. Bad advice.

  • Thanks for your comments, we like feedback! Its not rubbish, we have done a lot of work in locking bikes. Because of the way the D-Lock is located on the bike, a thief cannot pop it off. It is extremely difficult to remove the lock. If the U-Lock was around the frame, you would be correct.

It is always better to have two locks, but make sure they are used correctly!

  • This is a rubish way of locking your bike, the thief still oly needs to get past one lock. ideally you need two seperate diffrent locks like a D-Lock and a chain. because thiefs dont carry multiple tools usually jus one tool. Once he pops the D-lock hes got the whole bike?
