I got a chance to use a stadycam in school.. those are so so soooo COOOOoooooOOoooOLLLL!! but.. pretty expencive.. 25Gs gor the set and 20+Gs for the camera..

steadicams were first used in kubricks films if Im not mistaking "the shinning" first to use steadicam. wish this shaky cam crap their exploting these days would stop

The Steadicam was first used on "Bound For Glory" directed by Hal Ashby in 76'

It won the award for Best Cinematography...

"Rocky" was also one of the first to have steadicam shots...also in 76'

But Kubrick' long tracking shots were the breakthrough of the Steadicam, no doubt about that.
