The 'shit' sound is my camera, the drum is amazing. Sorry about the ring but the guys played from birth so wasnt going to ask him-) This was in The Gambia, I just asked him to play and he siad this was Wollof?
In all my years of studying djembe (Malian, Guinean and Ivorian) and many trips to Guinea, I have consistently heard from all of my teachers that only the Tambacunda region of Eastern Senegal has any relation to the history of the djembe; this would certainly rule out any djembe rhythm from the Wolof people. Sabar, serruba, bugaraboo are great and actually have a root in Senegal. It is also a good idea to remove rings when playing djembe (for the ring *and* the drum).
