I'll admit, at least the Hive Mind was a better boss then the final boss of Dead Space 2. Spoiler alert- You're in a mini-hell dimension while Nicole chases after you. After you shoot her a few times, the Marker, which is the boss, becomes vulnerable for a few seconds. Unload with the Pulse Rifle. Cue awesome credits.

Fable 3 has an even MORE disappointing boss in my eyes at least. SPOILER ALERT! The game leads up this thing as a super powered mega darkness thingy that can easily conquer your kingdom. All, I repeat, ALL the enemies are super easy to kill. I don't even think that there's a final boss in this game. I was greatly disappointed in this game.
you have to understand that fable is not a boss based game its a story based game i found the swift vengeance was just what it needed(killing him the same way he killed your sister) For halo the final boss wasnt that just a way to have the guilty spartan killed off. Gears, just like fable the boss is not there to be a boss it is there as part of the story,you cant just have it blow up the main characters have to destroy it, skorge is more of a final boss the rest is just to finish of the story

Why wasn't the final boss from Borderlands on here? It combines the 'coming out of nowhere' aspect of Necron with the simplicity of the Dead Space final boss. It's just a bit of a long fight.

Yeah, Fable 2 was definitely a disappointment. It's really bad when the GAME ITSELF will finish off the boss for you. Never played the third installment yet, so I'm hoping for something a little better.
I don't see 343 as the real ending battle of the game. Sure, he's set up to be a specific boss fight, and is the last one like it in the game, but think back to Halo. What does everyone remember about the end of that game? (Other than an elite grabbing some Sgt. Johnson booty) Everyone remembers the final level itself. The Maw is one of those incredibly memorable moments in Halo that launched it into instant classic territory. The same goes for Halo 3. The final level recreates that feeling well

Quick question on the Hivemind part josh. What difficulty did you play the final boss on? Because even if the attack pattern if predictable, usually you can only take around two hits unless you stocked up all on medicine, if you are playing this on the hardest difficulty.
You are right that it is disappointing gameplay wise, but I think the developers intentions were that it was more of a final story boss. I mean, there are much harder segments (The main barracks hallway for one)
My only disappoint in this list, is that when a boss has a pattern that is hard to find, he calls it unfair, and when a boss has easier patterns, he calls it too easy.
I actually liked the No more Heroes 2 battle, that little bastard gave me a good challenge despite having no build-up to his part of the story whatsoever. The story wasn't anything too much to mention, but the bosses were fun and their themes were worthwhile.
No. Mario is for everyone. That kind of attitude is why there's not a lot of good E-Rated software. Mario was made so that anyone could enjoy playing him, not just kids.

Okay, Suda51 pretty much designed the fight to be annoying, difficult, and with a prick of an antagonist. The beauty of this is so that you feel accomplished when you kick his ass into the ground on three occasions. He was made bad on purpose, so that when you DO kill him, you feel accomplished that you murdered the fuck out of that dickhole.

No More Heroes was a fucking fantastic game with bits of ironic gameplay thrown in as attempts at humor. That's why we had the GTA mockery in the first game, that's why we have so many fourth wall breaks, that's why Travis is an invincible superhero. It's a satire, and that was the major appeal of No More Heroes to begin with. And that's why Jasper was a great boss: he was a satire, a joke, and you wanted him dead, and you felt achievement when you DID kill him.
Look. He wasn't fun. I understand it was supposed to be commentary on the nature of revenge, but seriously, one thing you NEVER do is sacrifice gameplay for story, or vice versa. And I didn't feel achievement when he died. I felt the entire battle was a waste of time. A pointless, frustrating waste of time to take out an annoying half-baked little prick. Not worth it.

Well that is fun, and it also answered to not one but two of my questions in Final Fantasy IX : so in the american version the last boss is called Necron when he's called Darkness in the french version ; and, yes, he comes out of nowhere and has no reason to be the last boss whatsoever... Huh.
@joshscorcher Hey, SMG2 is arguably the best game of all time (In fact, it's tied with OOT for Most Critically Acclaimed Game Of All Time), and my never ending love for not only Mario but also Galaxy 1 and 2 made me hit that button.

At first I was very confused, because I thought you were going to say that Final FAntasy 7's final boss was lame. But that one-on-one swordfight with Sephiroth is probably one of the most bad-ass moments in video game history.

In an unscripted that he was forced to delete, he said that he liked the first SMG but hated the second, OPINIONS that I personally agree with.
If I recall correctly, one of his main gripes about SMG2 was how much it was derived from previous Mario games. While I disagree with this being bad on some points, World S was painfully unoriginal.

I actually liked the No more Heroes 2 battle, that little bastard gave me a good challenge despite having no build-up to his part of the story whatsoever. The story wasn't anything too much to mention, but the bosses were fun and their themes were worthwhile.

@joshscorcher What I mean is, The Lost Levels is possibly one of the Hardest platformers of all time it is EXTREMELY unfriendly to those that never played, and is only SLIGHTLY less frustrating for experienced players. I'm not disagreeing that Super Mario isn't pick up and play like you claim, I'm more saying that it's only been recently that it REALLY become more accessible.

Woahhhh, looks like we got another guy lacking the knowledge as to why Jasper Batt Jr. was the most ingenious boss battle in video game history.
Okay, Suda51 pretty much designed the fight to be annoying, difficult, and with a prick of an antagonist. The beauty of this is so that you feel accomplished when you kick his ass into the ground on three occasions. He was made bad on purpose, so that when you DO kill him, you feel accomplished that you murdered the fuck out of that dickhole.

I guess it depends on perspective on whether or not it's disappointing; I mean, it's not often game developers create a boss that is made for the player him/herself to wanna murder the character with their bare hands, better yet a final boss.

No More Heroes was a fucking fantastic game with bits of ironic gameplay thrown in as attempts at humor. That's why we had the GTA mockery in the first game, that's why we have so many fourth wall breaks, that's why Travis is an invincible superhero. It's a satire, and that was the major appeal of No More Heroes to begin with. And that's why Jasper was a great boss: he was a satire, a joke, and you wanted him dead, and you felt achievement when you DID kill him.

@joshscorcher Hey, SMG2 is arguably the best game of all time (In fact, it's tied with OOT for Most Critically Acclaimed Game Of All Time), and my never ending love for not only Mario but also Galaxy 1 and 2 made me hit that button.
It was an okay list, but you could have focused a lot more on the bosses, and not have went on about how much you liked/disliked the game.
Anyways, it's just my opinion, so no need to take it seriously.

I don't know if people are actually confused by this or not, but since a lot of comments haven't clarified which SMG game, I'm going to explain.
In an unscripted that he was forced to delete, he said that he liked the first SMG but hated the second, OPINIONS that I personally agree with.
If I recall correctly, one of his main gripes about SMG2 was how much it was derived from previous Mario games. While I disagree with this being bad on some points, World S was painfully unoriginal.
