Spare a thought for us in Queensland (and other Australian states). Not only are radar detectors illegal here, the cops have devices that can detect an operating radar detector.

@JBofBrisbane Lots of state cops have them, but it's mostly for commercial truck drivers here (who aren't allowed to have detectors nationwide). Only a couple of states outlaw them for everyone. But if you get caught speeding with one, you're almost guaranteed to get a ticket, so I still don't see the point.

Oh, and keep buying into the "LIDAR detector" bullshit, by the time that thing goes off you've been busted...

Except there's a little feature called "Hold" that allows them to control when you're sending out signal. Not driving fast (or riding in the passing lane) is the best way to not get stopped. I always give citations instead of verbal warnings to people with radar detectors as it shows they're making an effort to avoid getting caught. Ohh yeah, and LIDAR is pretty nice too. But go ahead, keep the radar detector companies in business hahaha

police radars are illegal in Pennsylvania. but this one place has a cut out of a police car that has a fake radar gun. people here know about the cut out, but its still enough to make even the person with the best eyesight take a stab at their brakes. they even know that the guns are illegal here, but its still a good safety precaution for other drivers.

there illegal to use by local police.... state police are the only law enforcement authorized to use it... however local are allowed ot use Vascar and other forms along those lines..  ( Distance over Time formulas)

The Valentine One has a hardwiring kit for bikes with a heads up display in your helmet. You just put the radar detector in a backpack while you're riding.

Man makes my belltronics vector 940 look like a walmart cobra. But mine does the job, and does it good. Picked up over a mile away, also does good around bends and such. even gets laser and pop. (but in WV those are rare) only had them like 3 times in 3+ years. I love knowing a cops around a turn before he sees me. Good vid. Don't like driving without a detector anymore.

The STi cannot be detected. That IS good where Iive.

They only work if the officer has the radar unit in the on position all the time. If he clicks between on and off, by the time you detect it. You are already fucked.

i am planning on becoming a cop and you are absolutely right. i have done three ride alongs and all the cops i rode with usually had it off and would just flip it off. those things make a very annoying racket while they are on. i would keep mine off most the time

The V1 picked up the Ka signel first and even detected as he passed you. You kept on asking "Where are you????" Just look at at the V1 and it was telling you...Hey Stupid the cop with CO KA band is infront of you, something that the Bel or Escort will never be able to tell you. The V1 detected 1st and detected well after the cop passed and the STI stopped detecting after the cop passed. V1 was the clear winner. Oh yeah..you sell Bel but dont sell Valentine 1 isnt that right?
