lookin at that vid with the killer instinct character select screen music has got me thinkin why on earth havent they not done a mortal kombat vs killer instinct game it would be a good way to bring back killer instinct to a new audience and the old gamers (me for one) would get some nostalgia esecially wit the new mk9 game going down the old school route makes sense

@rainxxxx Yeah obviously they where different character engines but technology has advanced since den they could use the graphics engine from mk9 imagine B. Orchid, Cinder or T.J. Combo in that character engine it would be sweet :)

In response to your description: I have been saying this for years. Imagine - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with higher framerate, Digitized live action characters in HD (recorded with HD cameras). More frames per sprites since there's no memory problem. And High Resolution Backgrounds. Or EVEN LIVE ACTION photographed backgrounds, animated at high framerates. You have any idea how EASY and CHEAP this game would be??!!

Why hasn't anybody done it, ESPECIALLY Ed Boon....f-ing pride. Time to go back...

Interesting learning exercise. Mortal Kombat should never digitise actors ever again. It's limiting by today's standard. It means that the game camera must remain at a fixed distance and elevation through-out the entire game. Moving the camera ruins the illusion. That's exactly why nobody digitises characters anymore, they want to beable to zoom in, out, and do pans around the characters. Unless there is a severe hardware limitation (like nintendo ds), digitisation has very little use.

I agree with you. I think they should digitize actors. That style is what made Mortal Kombat (my view) and kept it from being a "just another fighting game." The blood and gore definitely made Mortal Kombat stand out, but I look at the later entries and ofcourse think "COOL!" but it looks a little like the other fighting games out there.

It's a relief from the constantly dwindling amount of clothing present on female characters in MK in more recent games. x_x

Oh yeah, you could definitely do it in this. The kombat however would take FOREVER to make and code, hence why I'm just doing a simple fatality mini game, but it CAN be done. The AI would be a horrid pain to program. For a fighting game MUGEN might be a better route for you than this, but I guess it just depends on how you want it to play.

Nah it's a software program to which you can make just about any type of 2D game you wish to make. I've never used Mugen so I couldn't tell you if it's easier or not.
