Any kind of animal abuse or neglect is absolutely horrendous. I feel extremely distressed watching or hearing about animal abuse. It's clearly not socially acceptable to torture or kill a human being so why is it acceptable to inflict the suffering on an animal? Disgusting.

Yeah, at my city's Zoo they have a elephant called "Tisha" many years ago she was kept in bad conditions, a pen that have very little to do. She actually killed people.
They didn't put her down though, they made a whole new enclosure and walk her during the day through a part of the zoo.

Very well done Kristen :) I also did a lot of research and I found out that dolphins use sound to communicate with each other, therefore making there hearing very sensitive. When they are held in captivity in an aquarium, the sound of the filters stress them because of how sensitive they are to sound. I admire how much you really do care :)

Hey, I never said I suported SeaWorld etc. I was just saying that pretty much every animal they have there was born there. If SeaWorld was shut down, the animals would have to be killed or they would have to live in different centers - which would be just the same as staying at SeaWorld, if not worse.

inform yourself. watch "The Cove", "Earthlings", etc. Read Veg News magazines, Meet Your Meat (book), Diet for a New America (book), etc. Realizing that animals are not on Earth solely for human entertainment, consumption, etc. is a big awakening. Be aware that zoos, circuses, etc. are f*cked up. Be aware of your diet. Eat fruits, vegetables, soy proteins, "fake meats", tempeh, etc.
Every animal's diet is different because every animal is different. Let me make it clear that I agree with you that animals should not be used as entertainment but I just think its unfair to make all these claims on SeaWorld that are not true. SeaWorld does a lot when it comes to rescue and rehabilitation.
They are deep pools of salt water that are big enough for them to have full mobility in. And about the feeding of the animals; every animal at seaworld is on a scheduled diet. If they really did only feed them when they did tricks, the animals would be being a whole lot more rebellious.

I have personally seen the living conditions of the killer whales and dolphins at sea world and discovery cove and while they are certainely smaller than what Dolphins and whales are used to, they are not shallow, chlorinated coffins.

its because of places like seaworld that 'the cove' exists. Japanese kill dolphins and sell the ones that are the 'right' sizes to places like sea world. actually, there are people from sea world that go to the site and pick out what dolphins they want.
Sea World should only be a place of haven for marine life. Like zoos, and aquariums Sea wWorld should only be for the purppose of protection. If the animal for whatever reason can't live in their natrual habitat, then Sea World is there to give them the best life they can, allowing them to live as natrual as possible. Not capture them, and force them to do tricks. It should be outlawed! }:(

I agree! I also think that the conditions for the animals in zoos is not healthy conditions. Example the cages are not big enough at all they are use to big hugemongous land! I'm very against humans domesticating animals that are meant to be wild. However, animals who are already domesticated I don't think it would be the best choice to just throw them back in the ocean, because they have no idea how to survive in the wild. i also do not agree with this, but your arguments and research at many times seems very flawed and unintelligent, like the dolphins being treated with human medication. Many drugs used for animals are very similar to human medications. This doesn't really have to do with animals being injected with hormones.
I have been to many Peta presentations, and I am in support of the ethical treatment of animals I have found Peta to be an extremely hypocritical organization.
sometimes peta goes a little too far with things. like for instance the gorey video they have of what happens to cows, chicken, ect. i know that peta means well and wants to open peoples eyes to whats really going on but some things should not be seen to the public. they can still do a video and you kind of get the idea without all the gore. it's not just gorey but it's also very sad and heart wrenching.

I'm so against animal testing that I wrote a paper about it, I recently showed an older previous teacher of mine, and after reading that, she stopped supporting animal testing, it's a start to vegetarianism! Yeah, at my city's Zoo they have a elephant called "Tisha" many years ago she was kept in bad conditions, a pen that have very little to do. She actually killed people.
They didn't put her down though, they made a whole new enclosure and walk her during the day through a part of the zoo.

I don't believe PETA had the intention of "killing" these animals. When you rescue many kinds of animals and don't have the resources to care for them for their entire lifetime and no one else wants them, putting them to sleep is far less cruel than lab experimentation. Very well done Kristen :) I also did a lot of research and I found out that dolphins use sound to communicate with each other, therefore making there hearing very sensitive. When they are held in captivity in an aquarium, the sound of the filters stress them because of how sensitive they are to sound. I admire how much you really do care :)

@mishysWords that's bullshit! They overbred for money, put in small spaces ,and are often abused. I've talk to the Senior Director of SeaWorld about this, and all she said was I'm sorry, I can't do anything. Please don't speak about things you don't know. Thanks.

i also do not agree with this, but your arguments and research at many times seems very flawed and unintelligent, like the dolphins being treated with human medication. Many drugs used for animals are very similar to human medications. This doesn't really have to do with animals being injected with hormones.
I have been to many Peta presentations, and I am in support of the ethical treatment of animals I have found Peta to be an extremely hypocritical organization.

sometimes peta goes a little too far with things. like for instance the gorey video they have of what happens to cows, chicken, ect. i know that peta means well and wants to open peoples eyes to whats really going on but some things should not be seen to the public. they can still do a video and you kind of get the idea without all the gore. it's not just gorey but it's also very sad and heart wrenching.

@xxmodernloverxx i understand that you think that peta goes to far to post videos & ect of such gore and cruelty, but they need to. People really aren't listening, and at this point they just need the cause to get recognized. If people werent so ignorant to different mistreatments of animals such over the top measures wouldnt need to be taken.

yeah you do make a good point. people like you and me don't need to see videos like that because we are the ones who actually care about animals but others in this world need to see it so they can finally wake up to reality so yeah you make a very good point with that.

I'm so against animal testing that I wrote a paper about it, I recently showed an older previous teacher of mine, and after reading that, she stopped supporting animal testing, it's a start to vegetarianism! I was just wondering, would you like to read it? If you like it, maybe read it on a video, never know how many eyes it will open! Even if it's just one, that's one more person on our side :)
