@crazymonkeyy509 Because Android is basically Linux, rooting your phone means giving yourself Root user, or superuser. You have to have this to change this setting. There are TONS of videos and tutorials online if you just search "How to root Samsung Galaxy S Captivate" Then come back to this video to allow third party installation. :D
I did exactly what you said and even restarted my Phone like 3 times but when I try do download a wifi tether app it still says "For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market." Please help me I really need this application. Thank You so much.
I've followed your instructions..downloaded both SQLite and Root explorer. My Samsung captivate (AT&T) is rooted. The initial instructions did not work, so I followed your posted instructions to @Accelerator. It still did not work. I can confirm that I have changed the settings in folder /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings.db install non market app from 0 to 1. Can you help me correct anything I have missed or need to do? I am trying to download the amazon app store app
@Accelerator12 There's one other location you can check for the database file. Install the app Root Explorer if you don't already have it. Open it up and inside find the folder dbdata, inside there select the folder databases, then the folder com.android.providers.settings. The settings.db file should be inside there. :)

@zzmomo73 As it says in the video annotations.. SQLite Edition is no longer free. You can use asqlitemanager the same way. It is free.
