i thought biscuits were supposed to be small, thin & snappy things. What you made looks like crumpets. Did i get the word biscuit wrong?

That would be the UK definition of biscuit. As far as I'm concerned a biscuit can be any simple baked good.
It's just a culture difference in other words.
