Curious there Testeraccount1...what is your background for comment? The Orthodox church has been from the beginning. Most of the Traditions and Rites come directly from the Apostles. A good read of the Ante Nicene fathers, Didache and even general history from such as Josephus will be beneficial to inform.

@mariofreak444 Actually, that's a bit misleading. The Orthodox Church does indeed ordain married men to be priests, but once an unmarried man is ordained a priest he cannot marry after that. Nor can a married priest whose wife has died marry another woman.
@njacob909 Fasting is a spiritual discipline. Orthodoxy is about the soul. If one cannot control the body how can one control the passions? Or pray in silence? It is not so much about the fast but yourself....your relationship to God through Christ empowered through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
