  • I do Pilates on a regular basis. Can someone tell me what is the difference between Pilates and Yoga. They both have really close positions and moves

  • @marykmac07 I know, right? I really think that Pilates is a modern form of yoga created totally independently by Joseph Pilates. I think the main difference is Yoga concentrates on stretching muscles, flexibility and functional movement, while Pilates is about strengthening muscles (esp the core), flexibility and functional movement. Yoga started as an exercise system to make people fit for meditation. Pilates, to make people fit in their every day lives

  • I didn't think you mentioned it, but how long do you hold the last pose for?

    Legs up against the wall : 5 to 10 minutes.

    Child pose : around 5 minutes, as long as you want really.

  • I suffer from insomnia so I'll try this tonight. I tried the downward facing dog last night to help me relax and sleep, but I don't think it helped, maybe because I didn't used the head support.

  • excellent tip, i am aware that many among us, esp. women are unable to get their absolutely necessary sleep, this is an alternative to medication, which brings up the suggestion that you show us yoga poses for headaches!
