In the paraphrased words of the former Attorney General of the United States (R.F.K.) . "May I suggest that during the noon recess, the current Speaker of the House, and all other Democratic Senators and House Representatives who voted for this FISA law, read the Constitution of the United States!" SHAME!
It is very unfair the US companies have found a loophole that allows them to bring in foreign workers to the US and pay them the same them make in their foreign countries, by using the L-1 Visa, as opposed to the more common H1-B Visa.
Very Very true! I wrote To Brown twice about this.
I have a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and I still can't find a job. I was laid off in November of 2001 and still can't get any interviews for an engineering job. Employers act like I'm ignorant and a big loser but boy do they scoop up those non-Americans real fast!
What American promise, (that if you work hard and play by the rules, you'll be able to get by.)who told you this??, Some politician?? Just sit on your ass and wait for it to happen, Ha Ha, Your the one they talk about who at 65 years old and retired and only get 600.00 a month from SSI.
And with the new global warming laws, more jobs are going to leave, you wouldn'd be able to light match in this country let alone steel with all tht coal smoke.
If you're referring to a proposed fed income tax of a flat 23% of gross earnings across the board for all wage earners I'm going to have to disagree with you. I'm not rich but that rate would result in a 6% savings for me and mine. A 23% flat rate for "the rich" would probably result in an increase in returns since there would be no write-offs. You need to show me where the "poor" would pay more since they don't pay anything now.
Who cares. Democrats will raise taxes, Republicans will depress wages. In the end they both effect the downward pressure on purchasing power. DUNCAN HUNTER 2008!
Not only is it a good ad, it should help Brown as Ohio has lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs since Bush took office. I think we're 2nd only to Michigan on that count. That's not just 200,000 people who are unemployed, have to move elsewhere, or make a fraction of what they used to, but 200,000 FAMILIES who can no longer get by. It's a betrayal of a fundamental American promise, that if you work hard, full time, and play by the rules, you'll be able to get by.
"It's a betrayal of a fundamental American promise, that if you work hard, full time, and play by the rules, you'll be able to get by."
No one ever made that promise to me. I've personally gotten screwed more than once and that came to pass because of the mindset of the administrative folks who are busy trying to make themselves look good at the expense of the people working for them. Times have changed - you can't count on employers to be faithful to their employees in return for hard work.
Neither one of these two turkeys will do a darn thing to bring manufacturing jobs back to Ohio. The taxes are too high to attract business - no help from Brown on this point. The other guy is just a clown trying to keep his job and paycheck. They're both a couple of mutts!!
Funny. Considering small farmers are now out of work because he voted to make it illegal to sell produce you grow yourself....

That commercial won the race for Sherrod Brown. Even the Plain Dealer writer noted that.

I believe in Sherrod. I'm going to do whatever I can to help him get elected. Ohio needs him. Our country needs him.

The only thing Brown supports is higher taxes.

Mike Dewine voted in 2004 and 2005 to close the loopholes that use tax dollars to send our jobs to foreign lands.
