If I recall correctly, and I usually do, muta'ah must be permitted by the woman's father/guardian, at least in the first instance or unless the woman has been previously married, at which point she no longer needs permission. A contract is involved in mutah whereby the muslim man and woman agree on how long they want the marriage to last because it is temporary.
Mutah is a way of ensuring that you have strong sexual relationship to allow you to be confident for permanent marriage.

If Prophet Muhammad (saw) was to forbid Mutah and he is a believer and follower of the Quran BUT the Quran reveals that muta is halaal and does not reveal that mutah is haraam then the Prophet's act of forbidding muta and the Quran’s revelation (4:24) would contradict one another and this would not make sense to call the Prophet....
Since the Prophet is infallible (which he must be in order for us to follow a perfect role model for Islam) he cannot commit such an error or else it would change his title from a prophet to a mere human being. Since he is a Prophet his beliefs and practices must synchronise with the Quran. Therefore one position is made; the Prophet did not forbid muta.

Let us look at the Umar:
He is a fallible human being capable of error and there is no hadiths or Quranic verse that reveal he is infallible. It would make logical sense that Umar was the one who forbade muta since he is capable of error and many hadiths reveal that he did forbid muta.

That is even worse to say Allah forbade Mutah.

If I recall correctly, and I usually do, muta'ah must be permitted by the woman's father/guardian, at least in the first instance or unless the woman has been previously married, at which point she no longer needs permission. So her father or guardian had to have sanctioned the first time, which is HIGHLY unlikely. I'm betting she and her boyfriends don't know much about religion and misinterpreted it for their own good. No different than Sunni and Shi'a that simply fornicate without muta'ah.

A contract is involved in mutah whereby the muslim man and woman agree on how long they want the marriage to last because it is temporary.
