Can someone help me out? I recently bought this camcorder (first one) and it shoots just fine but when I transfer the video to the computer it is a little distorted (wavey lines through the picture) This is odd because when I play back on the camera it looks great on the LCD. I read it could be the shutter speed so I bumped it up to 2000 but it is still happening... Any help would be appreciated.

@RCWinnipeg it sounds like the media player you are using to play it back on the computer is struggling. the raw files from the camera are high quality and some players might struggle to play them back. also u need to have a decent computer. I use cyberlink power dvd 10 to play it back and it looks great.

@themadman697 I had a feeling it was on the computer software end, I know my machine is good enough but wasn't sure about the player. I continued to mess around with the video last night and found after I converted it to AVI the lines went away. So I think your right, I just need to use a different player or convert the file to another format from its original and it should be fine. Thank you for your response I really appreciate it.

I also have an older SD model. The way it zooms and handles is smooth also. On a tripod I got some nice shots. Good camera, not the best in low light but also has gain for night shots. You kind of need to add lighting to any camera indoors to make it look nice so I'm wondering if I will stick with this brand.

I'm confused... Every video on youtube shot with HM400 is absolutely amazing. Reviews on the net say the new model (HM1) is even better, but all youtube videos shot with the HM1 don't look half as good as vids shot with this HM400. Can anyone explain this for me?

I bought this camera and all I can say is WOW! It is Awsome,the Quality is as good as if not better than a full size pro camera.The Only thing that i would like is a little more optical zoom.The 10x optical zoom is pretty good but just needs a little more.The 15x digital zoom is not too bad but you get the blochy blacks a little.Over all for the price this camera is Outstanding!!!!

I think your opening shot alone sold me on this camcorder. I have an old JVC GR-DV500 which I bought in 2003 (ancient, I know) that still works. I feel JVC is criminally underrated in the HD cam market. My old DV500 has a mic input and headphone out which puts it two steps above most of today's cams. That the HM400 also has those ports are two big pluses in its favor. BTW, where was the opening shot taken? I love the lighting and composition.

no i think this is a great camera for the money. i dont use it that oftain i just like to have nice quality when i record something. but i have never had any problems with it. it is not the best in low light but it really makes up for that in other ways

@bowmurbandit i have not used pinacle but i think that it is a very good program. you can get a free trial of sony vegas to try it out. it is a shame that pinacle dont offer a trial.
