Considering the kind of work Mac did which consisted of constantly putting himself in danger and coming across various violent villains, I would think he would be better trained in hand to hand combat. I've seen some episodes where it seems like he has some combat judo training but he largely seems like a brawler. Sorry if this has been bought up before.
