just seen that is on ioffer.com as well. roger daltrey was going to be the singer for this theme (allegedly) but when producers heard this, they loved it.also, the second series was going to be the lads as taxi cab drivers but because of differences between writers, producers and ownership issues,it went to lawyers which is why no dvd or repeats.

can anyone a series on channel four from the same era, on late at night, 2 main male characters, one was trendy the other geeky and the geeky one was trying to find out who is dad was (may have been a copper) his dad was short fat and bald, any help?
markyboyz, it was called johnny jarvis and it was on bbc1 in late 1983. the cool character was johnny jarvis and he was played by mark farmer who was in grange hill and appeared in minder regularly. the geeky one was called alan and like you said he didn't know who his dad was and was trying to find out, he thought it was a nice character played by maurice colbourne from howards way but it turned out his real dad was a nasty corrupt copper. jamie foreman played the skinhead. great series.
I remember Johnny Jarvis. I'd have been 10 at the time. Nick Stringer played the dodgy copper who was his real dad. They wrote some song, "You take it. What's theirs is yours....". Something along those lines!!! Classic show!

That takes me back, McDougalls Mill, the Mudchute, Glengall Road Bridge. Top of East Ferry Road, remember it all. Almost unrecogniseable now, very little from Prospects days left. Almost brings a tear to my eye, remember the Island being a building site for years and that being a wierd time, that series really captured the last of the Island thats gone forever.
fond memories of this programme i was 13 at the time and it inspired me into a few money making schemes such as selling school dinner tickets , pigeon toss, betting and even a mini cafe in my mums selling tea and toast biscuits too my school mates after all it was the 80's it was survival back then. also i remember the theme tune was stuck in my head for about a year, great programme.
OMG!!!
Best 80's TV programme. At school this was all we talked about. Loved MONA who was Pincey's girlfriend!!!
The final episode when they were in prison, making hooch was a classic. R.I.P. Gary Olsen.
