WRONG! Discus dont prefer bara tanks. They reason why discuskeepers have them in bare tanks is becouse its much easier to clean and when breeding discus the water have to be absolut clean. If you would have an aquarium that was 50% planted and 50% bare the discus would stay in the planted zoon.
@justandy333 Not in every case. Discus 'preference' is difficult to establish since all discus and all environments vary. A more timid discus will always come out more in a planted tank where there is more security. However, many discus do great in barebottom tanks. It is difficult to make a generalization, other things apply.
