  • i pay us $35.50 for a use pulley, use tension-er, crank shaft seal and hand work only us $35.05 here in DR equals to 1,300.00 pesos

  • mine was making grinding noise so we took all the belts out and the crankshaft pulley and it was still making the noise so the only part that could be making noise is the timing chain tension-er we took that out change it and problem solve we change the pulley too cause it was wobbling

  • @visigoth2020 miatas have timing belts not chains at least all the ones ive worked on BTW dont argue i work as a tech at mazda

  • Atleast your motor cranks. I was starting it for the first time after i had the head remachined. The motor is turning but it won't crank :\ And I have the same problem you have but I also did not torque the crank bolt down (dumb mistake. i know. first time...)

  • With a wobble like that high RPMs is a bad idea.

  • ah yes, the classic crank wobble issue. i believe it was fixed by the '92 model 1.6 liter. it also affects the b6t 1.6 L turbo in the 323 gt/gtx. if left to its own devices will cause the crank nose to snap off and destroy the engine. this requires immediate attention.

  • @darcygoesfast You're right. That problem was fixed with 1992 models and newer with the with a longer nose bolt on the crankshaft.

  • Did you get it all fixed up?

  • How'd you go getting it fixed?

  • ohh shit!!

I have a 1990 short nose, 200 000km, and does not have any prob and wobble...

  • I just brought a used 93 miata with this same problem.the crank pulley wobbles just like your video. What was wrong and how did you fix it.

    concern owner....

  • Google "Miata Crankshaft Fix"

  • You've probably already solved this, but it looks to me that the crankshaft pulley bolt is not wobbling,it is the pulley itself that's wobbling...

Maybe you removed it for a timing belt change and forgot to install a washer, woodruff key or whatever.

If you're lucky,it's just a bent pulley due to a strike or something.

  • its the harmonic balencer. a rubber peice in between the pully and crank to balence it out

  • Just noticed mines doing this, mines a 93 with 8 slots on the pulley, let me know what you do to sort it mate?

    Adam

  • I'm gonna take it apart sometime this week. Hopefully the end of the crank is not too badly damaged and I'll be able to fix it by replacing the key, bolt and pulley and some loctite. Will report on status.

  • so how was it? what was wrong.

  • my intrepid 3.5 does that what was it
