  • very, very, very good

Muito bom mesmo, Peart deve se sentir orgulhoso, por ter músicos de alta qualidade como ele.

  • now that was awesome.....yeah someone is to loud...wonder who that is...hmmmmmm....lol...anywho...you two are awesome!!!!!!

  • Wow. You both killed it. Great job !

  • Wow! I don't usually sit through these whole "cover" videos but I couldn't stop watching. You guys are great!

    Amazing kit you have there...

  • Damn impressive!!! Good job both of you!!!

  • I was totally impressed.....Rush fan from the start....good job to both of you. I bet you have no problem getting anniversary gifts for one another...LOL.....Keep up the impressive work who knows where it will lead you both??

  • Awesome Job, Awesome song, Awesome Couple, congrats Astro & Pat

  • dude, if Neil Peart just stoped playing drums right now, Geddy and Alex would be calling u for a replacement

  • I have seen most of the other You-tube rush drum covers and I cannot find one that compares to yours pierre! I cannot tell your playing from Neils at all they are virtually identical! I could definitly see you sitting in for neil at a rush concert easily!!

  • Excellent job guys, share the same musical tastes congratulate, Rush-partner

  • Excellent! If you decide to have kids, they're going to be very talented...

  • It's awesome to see a married couple play music together. What headphones do you and your wife use?

  • And to think I often wonder what other couples do one those cold evenings.... it seems some jam Rush! Never thought that would be something I saw... well done.

  • @HeisW140 Thank you! We in fact rarely play Rush music together (Pat is more into jazz these days) but we should. We are thinking about another song to do over here..

  • @Astrotama Definitely. It's pretty rare to have a couple jamming. My wifes a Karate black belt and I'm a drummer - so the best we could manage is me rocking out while she knocks out my teeth :-) I've never really listened to Rush - seems to have been very big in the States and Canada but not so in New Zealand. Everyone raves about Mr. Peart, which is why Im hunting around trying to find a track to attempt myself. Thanks for the reply.

  • @Astrotama La VIlla?

  • you guys rock...i posted to reddit

  • Awesome!!! Rush people are the most devoted fans...and most likely the most intellectual. :)

  • I have been a fan of Rush for many years. I have only went to one of their concerts which was the Power Windows tour in Greensboro, NC back in the 80's. As good as you are, just think how it would feel to attend a rush concert, and be asked by their management to have you sit in for a song or two. Miracles do happen you know....lol. Just wondering, there is a video of 4-5 musicians playing rush music from different countries. Are you the drummer that is playing on it?

  • @charlesndanville No, I've never done any YT collaboration. I had a Rush tribute band going on for a while so I was busy with that. Who knows, maybe some day...

  • amazing, simply amazing

  • I would like to see more of you two playing together. It's pretty cool actually. Do you have any other friends or family that can play guitar?

  • @Modelwarshipsdotcom Pat can actually play many instruments (including drums, she owned a Tama set when I met her... ;) ) but no, right now, no guitar in the family.... ;)

  • That is so sweet. There must beTrue Love in the mutual appreciation of the greatest band ever. Love your stuff guys, keep it up!

  • You're a lucky man. I dream of finding a girl with whom I can share my mad love of Rush.

  • @ludwigviper4468 We actually met because of Rush so the damage was done before she heard of me.... ;)

  • @Astrotama

You could have a son who play the guitar :D

  • Thank god for youtube, sharing this talent you both have to us, there are no words to describe how inspiring your vids are. Thank you

  • Those are some sexy sandals haha jk Sweet bass playing though

  • Awesome

  • Your wife's bass playing is amazing brother!!!!!!

  • kick ass!

  • THat's awesome!! She did GREAT. how wonderful to have a wife that would not only put up with the racket.,..but would join in !! my ex wife hated rush...which is why she is the 'ex' wife and I now get to enjoy without unnecessary interruptions..>!! lol!

    --

OH...by the wAY YOU must GET HER A GEDDY LEE JAZZ BASS...IT'S AWESOME AND SOUNDS JUST LIKE GEDDY'S AND IT PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY

  • THat's awesome!! She did GREAT. how wonderful to have a wife that would not only put up with the racket.,..but would join in !! my ex wife hated rush...which is why she is the 'ex' wife and I now get to enjoy without unnecessary interruptions..>!! lol!

  • Terrific performance. I am happy for you and Pat. That is cool that you two share this passion. Any kids?

  • hey dude i would like to know how your kit is set up as far as drum size? like tom size and how many cycmbls. and what size's i have 6 a custom's and want more but not sure what to get ..i have a 7 peac kit (peral) and want to do more with it any tip's and how to bye?

  • @Shawng2171 There is a description of my kit under my channel with some external links as well where you can find a complete description of the kit....

  • Very very good! Congratulations!

  • Are those Tama Rockstar Custom Blue drums? I can't really tell the color. They look quite a bit like the kit I have. lol. Very entertaining!

  • @mjcdrum No, it's a Starclassic Performer kit, in indigo blue.

  • I was on the NMS newsgroup too, back in 1991-1993.

  • First of all, I'm a great fan of yours. My first reaction before actually seeing this video was.."great, here come the relatives...". I couldn't have been more wrong, your wife is great and completely complements you. Hope to see more...

  • Such a privilege to play Rush with your own wife. Awesome, as usual !

  • Wow...nice job! I love the sustain on that splash!!

  • Oh man, it is pure delight looking at you play their pieces!

The thing is, on all video takes of bands or artists the view is always switching between cameras and it is impossible to concentrate on anyone's part. Your takes are awesome for that (beside the astounding quality of your playing).

    Thanks a lot!

  • @jnyveslbl Thanks for watching!

  • nice!good fun!

  • not perfect? who cares... WOW nonetheless

  • great vid man! the family that plays together stays together!

  • If i was neil i would be so pissed ... i mean here's an astrophysicist that probably plays the drums as good as he does but if you asked neil what astrophysicist do he'd say i dunno look through telescopes LOL... i mean dude where did you find the time? i tried playing back when i was a bit younger and could do ok but never i mean NEVER came close to this level ... and i practiced all the time.. god given talent. only explanation.. keep it up man

  • Very nice! You two truly evelate from the norm!

  • Very Nice! Its hard finding another Rush musician let alone one that is inside your family! Great job! Now if I can get brave enough I would just post a vid of me playing Circumstances or Broons Bane on Acoustic. Maybe!

  • I'm late to reply cause your vid didn't show up? I just happened to open your channel to use InfinateLooper to play along with you. So you finally convinced your better half to join in, eh? That's great. I have been enjoying playing along with my bass playing son for some time now. Awesome. One thing though, can you turn her volume up just a tad. Hope that you guys work out the volume problem and are able to post up more collaborations. Heros ear plugs work well in conjunction with headphones.

  • You two are simply put - PURE GREATNESS! Very AWESOME replica of a very difficult RUSH song! Astrotama...You Sir, are one of the VERY BEST Neil Peart copies there ever has been!

  • @borndriver Thank you!

  • Fantastic job! I've got the bass parts covered, now if I could only get my wife to take drum lessons.... Thumbs up to your wife!

  • wow! thats really neat!

  • That was awesome. You guys should do the song Malignant Narcissism that would be a lot of fun on drums and bass.

  • EXCELLENT! LOVE IT..

  • unfu***ngbelievable!!!!!! congratulations both of you! cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina!

  • Dude thats great you both should do mre Rush tunes together. It sounded great

You guys did an outstanding job, as usual, I wouldn't expect anything less from you Astro, I am a huge fan of yours!! • great job - nice work on bass solo

  • What's your doctorate in?

  • @InfinityEnterprises Astrophysics.

  • cool. also awesome to see that you met through rush

  • @chrisbDTM This is actually a pretty cool story... When I was finishing my PhD in Quebec, I was a member of the National Midnight Star Rush newsgroup. I was going to move to Tucson as a post-doc fellow, wondering if I should bring my drums or not. I sent an email through the NMS to see if there was any chance I could find people to play some Rush music with over there. I got 5 answers, one from Pat who was then a PhD student here. We met after I got to AZ, and here we are, 18 years later... ;)

  • @Astrotama Awwwwww......

  • Ok. I'm officially the enviest person on Earth.

  • great job folks, by the way, any effects to get that compression on the bass or is that just the Ibby?

  • @radcam69 We used a multi-effects Zoom B2.1u for the bass.

  • @Astrotama Outstanding job folks, always enjoy your work.

  • Awesome work!!! Its great to see husband and wife working together! Coolest thing I've ever seen!!!

  • @drunkattheparty Thank you!

  • Great playing folks, as always!! A pleasure to see this.

  • freakin awesome!! the jam at the end is one of my all time favorites

  • Aw, thats LOVE! Nice job.

  • Cool, momma is jamming on the bass

  • Fantastic, really enjoyed seeing both of you playing together! Keep up the great work both of you!

  • You BOTH are awesome! I wish my wife would pick up any instrument so we could jam together. Great job you two. We know who to come to in the event RUSH may need some stand ins :)

  • @steverid Thanks! Pat is a much more accomplished musician than me. She plays guitars, ukulele, viola, bass, double-bass, drums and sings in choirs. I only bash some drums. ;) People might not know but she helped me a lot in figuring out many glockenspiel parts and stuff like that I have to play in those songs......

  • You Should Do More Videos Like this cause it is awesome

  • Great job! One of my RUSH favorites. I enjoy the technical complexity as well as the lyrics.

So... now that you have your wife involved (thanks to her for joining in) does this mean that you will be re-recording all your videos to include her? :)

  • @JohnAGonzalezFL Nope. ;) She is focusing more on jazz those days and only practices a few Rush songs from time to time...

  • Brain-melting AWESOME! Not just the playing and of course the music, but a husband-wife team doing this? Gah! Words fail! I love it!!!

  • outstanding! The only involvement my wife has when I am playing is "can you not play so loud". Kind of like being a kid again and mom yells down the stairs bitching cause its "too loud". LOL great stuff !!!

  • Awesome!

  • How would Pat rate the bass part? Would she consider it a very complicated piece to play?

  • fuck yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • U 2 need to play and record more often. Awesom

  • True love = playing rush together

  • I'd say it's pretty darn good for not being perfect.

  • Nice Job!

  • You both did great! I hope to see more of this!

  • You two are awesome! Very well done!

  • Hey - wife did a great job!

    Alex

  • Rush + Astrotama = one heck of a great video. Well done as always.

  • Stellar as always! Great to see your wife on the bass! :)

  • "This is not perfect by any means and was essentially made to have some fun"

Yea yea yea - You're Incredible, your wife is very good as well. Great Job, AGAIN!!! (Bows down, "we're not worthy, we're not worthy") ;-)

  • Great cover as always. It's awesome to see music, especially RUSH, bringing people together. My fiancee plays guitar, and I play bass, and we always have a good time playing together, until I start singing lol.
