@futurewave There are many vids with the gw-8... why are you not content? I am a total beginner, and they say: take a good synthi for hand- and fingerexercises, not too dear; and others write, thats a good quality... looking on others vids too; the player is a little bit narrow with these patterns, perhaps; its not really music?

que tal amigo, por lo que yo se el teclado ya viene con esos sonidos y ademas trae ritmos como los yamaha, la verdad me gusta mucho mas este que un tr ya que el tr se me hace mas chafa en cuanto a su construccion y este roland es como para uso un poco mas rudo, en lo personal siempre me ha gustado mas roland para metales y acordiones, yamaha para pianos y cuerdas y los korg para huesear XD. un saludo

I don't know I would expect to hear this sound walking into a lounge in a Wisconsin polka town at five-thirty in the afternoon, the bar sounded by sixty year old grannies with bright red lipstick, and dyed faded red hair. A guy named Herb or Ralph in a sports jacket with a bad rug playing this. with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth! I think I'm gonna be sick excuse me.....rolfh.........

I'd like to have heard the drumkits.

Some of the sounds are seriously not flattering, but that might be just my tastes. Particularly the brass, and the "pan pipe moods" pipes.

That said I do like the organs, and i'm sure there's some more synthy sounds on there that i'd like.

How much do these go for second hand?

Sounds great! My only concern with Roland keyboards in REAL TIME/LIVE SHOWS, changing voices won't be easy b/c of the rotary dial?

I'm not sure about the GW-8, but on the Fantom G (and the X) you have a favourites section where you can assign a favourites bank of up to 8 patches to the F buttons under the screen for instant dial up. And on the Fantom G there's no drop out when switching between patches. The only keyboard with this function I believe.

I'm thinking about buying a new keyboard next year,a Roland E09 is one possibility,a Prelude is another,the GW8 is incredibly realistic.The GW8 is definitely above general midi quality,I'm not sure what price range the GW8 is classified as but I think it's a mid range keyboard.

kurzweil will blow the doors off this keyboard with the pc3x that really emulates any instrument with the exception of guitars (motif xs is better for guitars).

roland should just stick to making synthesizers instead of romplers. because thats what roland will always be good at.

This is the best for the buck under 1000 bucks, a combination of arranger and synthesizer will make my life easier and complement my fantastic psr-s900 on stage. high quality sounds and usb recorder/sequencer built in is a great feature.

Yes it does.., it should have several choir patches. The GW-8's soundset is from the Roland Fantom X and the SonicCell. I've also seen postings saying that some of those sounds appear to have been taken from the SRX expansion library... Roland did this with the Fantom G too.

Some of these sounds are realy great (synthy and co.) but the rest I think there are better sounds on my Roland Jv 1080. And that's an old and I mean realy old Expander. Shame they don't build this Expander anymore.

Yes.., that's Ed Diaz of Roland :) He has done several Roland demo vids. Personally I think he's a bit heavy handed at times.
