@loppytaffy Not exactly 'Ye Olde England' the Clow Cards were made using a blend of eastern and western magic, so I think China is involved in the mix somewhere too! Syaoran is Chinese and he's Clow's descendant. As for trap cards- I'm sure some Clow/Sakura cards could be used as traps, like the Loop, or Mirror (Remember those trap cards- Mirror Force or Mirror Wall?) As for swords...well, there is a Sword Card. I'm sorry, I think Syaoran is adorable but I'm pretty sure Kaiba could kick his ass.

I'm watching the 4kids version right now, but to me it's not that bad. I don't mind it.

@ayesha36 Yes, YGO is a shounen, and it started as a horror-esque themed manga, and CCS is a magical girl show, but I don't think that really matters if we're comparing their quality. It'd only matter if we were comparing the kind of characters, themes, OSTs, dialogues, and moods each series have.

@XBlackRoseAlchemistX That was my exact reaction as a kid. After I gave YuGiOh a chance I noted that it was different and fell in love with the storyline. The fact that it base almost everything on Egypt helped its case a lot. I was a nerd when it came to the Egyptian culture at that age.

The two are completly different. i have no idea how anyone could possably think that Yu-Gi-oh was a rip of of CardCapturs. Therefore, It's almost impossible to compare them. They are both great, though YGO has more plot, and you can make fun of it, whereas CC has better animation styles, plus different costumes in almost every episode. I wish they had made more CC episodes =(. The Spin-off/sequel isn't as good.

I just have Cardcaptors The Movie and Cardcaptor Sakura The Movie 2 The Sealed Card and I'm not tired of those movies either. I like both shows, but Yu-Gi-Oh! is better. It has a better story line and everything, but that's just my opinion.

This is totally an opinion and I wasn't really trying to prove my point by saying that. But I disagree it doesn't take a genius to come up with a show about monster that come out of card and make them fight through hundred of useless episode. It's unoriginal, Pokemon, Digimon, BayBlade, Medabot, and many other are in the same ship. Things fight other things. I understand the appeal of it however, fighting are cool and children love them, but there is no substance.
I like show that have a great Story. Impressive plot, deep caracter development, no useless fillers episodes, etc. And in my opinion Card Captor is better. The story itself is a lot more original with all the different card and the overall plot.
about 200 million people would disagree with you the. the programs you have mentioned are all part of a brilliant sub-type within anime, probably the most famouse form of it in english speaking cultures. Don't insult it just because you don't see the attraction.
I know they are and honestly it piss me off. That is what I say, these show are well know because they are considered "cool" with fighting and stuff. The problem is that they don't try to have a well thought story. For me a story goes from point A to point B with the less pointless detour possible. I prefer show that push the limit of storytelling and try to get the best story possible and it disgust me that the most popular show aren't these.
What you call detour, most people call plot. What you seem to not realize is that if most people like a thing, it does become the best thing (sort of). Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they are not good. Why does your opinion count more than anyone elses? Why do you asume that your views are right? The fact that most people love those thing doesn't mean that it is the "best". From your point of view, if the mass think something, it automatically make it right ? On last thing. You say it hard to come up with a show about a card game that is interesting. I agree... if it was about playing card it be very hard to make it interesting. The detail is that it is not. It's about giant monster coming out of these cards and beating the shit out of eachother. Therefore, it's easy to come up with.
Hmmm you could try comparing them like if they were in some alternate dimensions or something. Of course it would be pretty silly seeing as Yugi triumphs over Sakura if they would go into some kinda card fight battle. Sakura might have the 2 strongest clow cards the Light and the Dark card but Yugi has 3 Egyptian God Cards on his side which would totally OHKOed Sakura and her two strongest cards. =\
I would have to say they are both very good shows. But honestly, I dont see how Yu-gi-oh! is a rip off of CardCaptors. I dont know much about CardCaptors because it wasnt really on as much.

Yugioh, the japanese version, is what I like better. Card Captor Sakura just is annoying when it comes to reading the subbed version. But if you are talking Cardcaptors and hte English Yugioh... I dunno... Tied.
this is really hard to decide. i mean they're both good shows. but what i can't stand about yu-gi-oh, and this happens in a lot of anime shows, is that they take sooooo much time talking to one another in a battle, that it may only show like 5 minutes of action. some shows like that would be one piece and Bo bo-bo

they cut out parts of every episode for the UK and in america they even want as far to make Shaoran (Lee) the main character! english dubs are usually naff compared to the original jap :P
I watched Yugioh and I was still into Cardcaptor Sakura (well, Cardcaptors techniclly, but still), and not once did I feel they were similar. Yeah, I mean you have a point with the magic and the cards and such, but past that I see no real similarities for Yugioh to be considered a ripoff of Cardcaptor Sakura, but that's just me. Still, I like both personally.
Anyway, I do like the video, I think you mixed the two shows quite nicely and you used good shots for both.

The problem is that they don't try to have a well thought story. For me a story goes from point A to point B with the less pointless detour possible. I prefer show that push the limit of storytelling and try to get the best story possible and it disgust me that the most popular show aren't these.

What you call detour, most people call plot. What you seem to not realize is that if most people like a thing, it does become the best thing (sort of). Just because you don't like it doesn't mean they are not good. Why does your opinion count more than anyone elses? Why do you asume that your views are right? Don't you ever think that it might, just maybe, be you who are mistaken. I bet the thought never crossed your closed mind. Open up and look at the big picture.

The fact that most people love those thing doesn't mean that it is the "best". From your point of view, if the mass think something, it automatically make it right ? Yes It's true that my believe might be wrong and yes I considered it. I do not assume that my opinion is worth more that anything else. However I consider it right for myself. By looking at the big picture this is what I get. I'm a author and if I'm wrong, I guess my work won't sell. By the way, what you claim, is also opinions.

Oh and I admit that calling it "a piece of shit" is harsh. I know some poeple get entertain from that and I admit that it's worth something. Yet I stand that it's worth less that many other thing.

On last thing. You say it hard to come up with a show about a card game that is interesting. I agree... if it was about playing card it be very hard to make it interesting. The detail is that it is not. It's about giant monster coming out of these cards and beating the shit out of eachother. Therefore, it's easy to come up with.

Hmmm you could try comparing them like if they were in some alternate dimensions or something. Of course it would be pretty silly seeing as Yugi triumphs over Sakura if they would go into some kinda card fight battle. Sakura might have the 2 strongest clow cards the Light and the Dark card but Yugi has 3 Egyptian God Cards on his side which would totally OHKOed Sakura and her two strongest cards. =\

I would have to say they are both very good shows. But honestly, I dont see how Yu-gi-oh! is a rip off of CardCaptors. I dont know much about CardCaptors because it wasnt really on as much.
But if you want to see a ripoff of Yu-gi-oh!, watch DuelMasters 0.o

Yugioh, the japanese version, is what I like better. Card Captor Sakura just is annoying when it comes to reading the subbed version. But if you are talking Cardcaptors and hte English Yugioh... I dunno... Tied.

this is really hard to decide. i mean they're both good shows. but what i can't stand about yu-gi-oh, and this happens in a lot of anime shows, is that they take sooooo much time talking to one another in a battle, that it may only show like 5 minutes of action. some shows like that would be one piece and Bo bo-bo

they cut out parts of every episode for the UK and in america they even want as far to make Shaoran (Lee) the main character! english dubs are usually naff compared to the original jap :P

I watched Yugioh and I was still into Cardcaptor Sakura (well, Cardcaptors techniclly, but still), and not once did I feel they were similar. Yeah, I mean you have a point with the magic and the cards and such, but past that I see no real similarities for Yugioh to be considered a ripoff of Cardcaptor Sakura, but that's just me. Still, I like both personally.
Anyway, I do like the video, I think you mixed the two shows quite nicely and you used good shots for both.
