Apparently Bill doesn't realize that by HIM resolving problems between boys in school isn't a very good idea. Although, I do believe that parents not doing anything is WRONG. But if you deprive a kid the ability to resolve his own problems what are you going to do when he or she gets older? I think everyone failed the bullied boy in one way or another. School, teachers and parents. This bullying got physical and I'm 100% sure that it wasn't the first time and the boy got tired of it and reacted.
I would have paid for a front row seat to see this personally. Too many times schools hide behind protocol and pretend there is nothing they can do. Go to them with a letter from a solicitor outlining their legal obligation to not only protect your child, but every other child that is their responsibility during school hours and watch them jump. Too often parents go to the school about their child being bullied and are brushed off with the school making a few noises here and there.

The school has to suspend both pending investigation. Once they did their investigation and found out the bigger kid has been picked on for so long and even hit in the face in the video, they should have reinstated the bigger kid and kicked out the other kid permanantly.

I'm sorry, but obviously Bill O'Reilly never got bullied. I did. Anytime I ever tried to defend myself, I would get punished through in-school suspension or out of school suspension. But if I went to someone, then they did nothing. The kid who got bullied got a 21 day suspension. The other kid got 7 days. How is that fair?

I agree with both sides of the coin. We don't want to encourage our kids to fight, but we do want to encourage them to stand up for themselves. Sometimes the last resort is defending our lives and not just fighting. Sometimes there is no time for negotiations or diplomacy, it's either fight or flight. Obviously this bigger kid did not want to fight, but they smaller kid had to equate size with harm. Let's face it, he tried to cash a check and it bounced! lol

Often that is portrayed as the "stronger (winners)" dealing with the "weaker (losers)" ... We have a culture of the strong preying on the weak in society, and bullying while not physical happens through all aspects of life. Until we address that I don't think any amount of martial arts will help, at least not the general populace.

The parents did nothing! The school did nothing! The bigger kid took repeated punches to the head and did nothing! Finally after having had enough only then did he fight back. And he even stopped after the body slam! Others would have kept going. This kid is a model of restraint! We should thank him for settling it right there and not going home a stew to such a point that he killed himself or went and did a "Columbine". Violence is wrong.
