  • Anyone ever tell you, that you kinda look like RJ burger? lol

  • green day has good tone but the tone in video is shit mate

  • @hahahahahaha102 Yep.

The closest I can get on my solid state Fender is: Treble 10, Mids 8, Bass 6, gain 6, but mine's still missing something [and not just a tube amp].

    Anyway, hope that helps.

  • Why would anyone want a 'Green Day' tone?

  • @penningtonant Because it's a solid, versatile, crunchy rock rhythm tone that's not quite metal but not quite vintage. This video is just a crude solid-state semblance to the "Dookie" modded Marshall Plexis Green Day actually uses, and the author of the vid's EQ is off, so of course it's not as good. This video sucks, but it isn't a bad tone at all.

    But, haters gonna hate.

  • For one, use Old School 60's-70's Marshall's Amps, Humbuckers, 60's Stratocaster, Medium-Picks, Lots of Backing treble. I figured this out from constantly messing around with my stuff.

  • Great video man! To add to this: when I found some old photos from early Green Day-gigs, I saw a Marshall JCM900 behind Billie Joe, and at the Woodstock '94 show he was using a Marshall Plexi. But here's a tip for y'all: for the Green Day tone, indeed use a humbucked guitar, a valved Marshall-like amp, but don't 'scoop out' the middle tone, and use lots of treble. Cheers!

  • @xxKishotexx did you say tone all the way up?

  • Thanks

  • You're using the second channel which is based off a Plexi..... How Billie Joe got his sound, ripping off the brown sound, a boosted Plexi, or a Marshall boosting a Marshall...... Wish I could afford a studio faded as well, instead, I bought a Standard and a tube amp with a boost pedal..... Green Day tone? All you need is a tube screamer to get the "Brown Sound"

  • Okay this is weird, i have that guitar in white, and that EXACT amp, I'm not kidding!!

  • way too live of a sound....

  • got the sound down, you said hum bucker though and billie joe has single coils in his les paul jrs. his starts have hum buckers

  • Hey I was wondering how to get the tone with an Epiphone Les Paul (there is the

Gain" and "Volume" tuners on the guitar. My amp is a Marshall Amp that has clean, and then on the Overdrive settings there's "Tone" "Volume" and "Gain." Please help :D

  • how to get a green day tone on roland micro cube..??

  • i have the same line 6 but its newer and when i did that it sounded like poop. and now. my amp clicks..

  • How to sound like green day:

Knackered old tube amp, knock-off cheapo strat with a Duncan JB in it, Boss DS-2, 4 4x12 cabs, LOUDNESS!!

  • Ok I have a fender mustang 1 amp and it's got 24 presets. And Metal 2000 with the treble at 8 depending on the guitar you have and the gain at 8 and everything else at 10 sounds just like Green Day. And it comes with free recording software

  • how comes the "usa idiot" preset sounds shit and nothing like the actual song

  • how do you take it off???

  • Yeah Man, i got a Line 6 75 watt Spider III amp, these setting sound loud as fuck, but for my amp its not Green Day tone from american idiot era, my amp sounds great for the old stuff

  • hey, I'm getting a new amp, would you reconmend the line 6 15 watt?

  • I've just got a practise amp with only gain voice and volume controls. what do you reccomend for that?

  • damn i dont have a humbucker on my strat!!

  • I've got the les paul jnr. and i use it with a marshall mgfx30 on clean and a boss me-25 with only the blues effect on nd it sounds spot on

  • I see you in the guitar!

    0:20

  • pretty good but you shold turn volume a little bit more up!

  • wow that was horrible

  • Drive 6 Treble 10 Mid 8 Bass 5 Reverb 3 for fender amps sound more like the Green Day I think

  • I try about 8 gain, 7-8 treble, 5-6 bass, 5 mid and its roughly their tone.

I think thats how i get my green day tone, But i also have my own tone which is extremely badass >:D

  • lol biggest nerd trying to play guitar...lol chicks must dig the glasses

  • LOL les paul junior dont have a humbucker, they have single coil pickups.

  • Ofcourse, those simple amp settings don't apply to a line6. the price u pay for versitility is that nothing's simple.

  • Dude, it's way easy 2 get the GD sound. U can get one tone that fits with every album they put out. Get a guitar that with a humbucker in the bridge and one that isnt crappy(Midrange priced Squiers and epiphones work great if u r on a budget) or install a humbucker( Invader, hot rails, lil 59). Turn volume and tone on the guitar to 10. On any decent amp, mid and treb to 10. bass and precense just around 6 or 7. High or lead gain on, gain set to 5 or 6. Universal GD tone!

  • Line 6....

  • My preset for Green Day is Treble10 Bass7-9.

Now i have a cheap crappy amp that cost like $40 so it might not sound so well on other amps but this is just advice to those who are watching.

  • wait a sec.... you recommend a humbucker for a greenday sound? while everybody knows that the best green day sound coes from a P-90?

  • What do u have ur pedals set at?? Thnx.

  • thanks man, helped me heaps

  • Agrees. Try to save up for like a Marshall haze 50 watt tube or something, and turn all the knobs up and put the bass knob on about 7, and you have the greenday tone. That extra distortion helped alot btw

  • thanks this helped a lot

  • A Gibson into a Line 6? Come on, you can do better than.

  • how do u turn off the added distortion????

  • green day doesn't have any particular tone, it's just normally equalized rock TUUUUUUBE overdrive... no tubes no tone

  • what about for a line 6 spider 4 ??

  • lol i have a yamaha pacifica and a roland micro cube amp, and i just cant seem to get a good green day tone, does anyone know how to get it, lol btw i know my equipment is cheap but i cant afford to buy better equipment

  • @VansSk8Girl Dose your amp have a gain knob? if so turn it 8/10 up and your treble up and and and try 1/3 bass and or middle

  • @xxKishotexx hey hi mine is a Crate amp

  • @VansSk8Girl Just like me :P

  • I have Marshall JVM and its awesome

  • i hope this is right, but in my personal opinion, green day seems to have a more bass-filled sound to me. id say the bass needs to 7/8 ish. Although, if u want to play blink 182, this is PERFECT

  • @itsmarshmallowz lol your right any of those is pretty good but since i dont have like 2g's laying around i stick with line six lol

  • @xxKishotexx possible with Ibanez grg170dx?

  • @xxKishotexx i think vox are good too. get like the 30watts since that's like the minimum to be louder than the drums and also it sounds good

  • Green Day has a "tone"?

  • cool man this is the same tine good job

  • do a review of your guitar

  • thank you dude... im going to buy an epiphone les paul jr or a epiphone les paul special 2.. which is better for Green Day tone? the junior is cheaper, but i dont know..

  • @GreenDay4life2k if i where you i would go with the higher end lp junior

but the LP special is realy not that great but its worth it to save up for the higher end modle

  • @xxKishotexx hey thanks for doing this very helpful. but what tuning do i need to set my guitar to. sorry if i didnt hear it.
