you may wish to skip hearing this all together - the balance has been messed with - someone separated the original - more than likely for study purposes and added a FAR FAR OUT THERE drum track that is SO FAR OUT THERE it is very frustrating --- BETTER TO GO and listen to the MORE ORIGINAL: : João Gilberto / Astrud Gilberto: The Girl From Ipanema FAR better experience! this is a sad and very strange recording and should've already be removed.
This track seems off somehow - strange to hear the drums accenting the offbeat and the vocals sound slow, stretched and off the mark rhythmically. You can find a perfectly in sync version with correct vocals and drums here: João Gilberto / Astrud Gilberto: The Girl From Ipanema (Jobim, de Moraes, 1962), uploaded by classicvinylbiz
@Ahsfb61 I've never seen the word "gringos" used by somebody on youtube before. i thought only over here in Laredo, Texas we would use that language lol!!!! where you from? :O
yes ladies and gentlemen, this is either WAY progressive and OUT there or it is a study recording for some EITHER INCREDIBLY ADVANCED percussion student or a tin eared percussionist (I've met some.) If you turn off the percussion track ( shift to far LEFT channel) it is actually beautifully rendered. At some points it still sounds like the tracks were inadvertently separated out of sync with each other and placed back together again in an incorrect way. The balance is seriously flawed. Hmm.
@123ZAC456789 ....hmmmm, I was just thinking "this is definitely the recording I know! No wait, that bit was slightly different...hang on this bit is exactly the same...." Reading your comment made the whole thing make sense - it must be slightly out of sync.
@misteredwino You're rude, man. That's pretty douchey to insult all of us "gringos" in spanish. For those who don't speak spanish, don't worry about this fool. He was just being ignant and generalizing. Thanks.
@misteredwino I know a lot about "ethnic" music. There are different beats that many American might not get. An example is Reggae in which the guitar strums on the upbeat. Well Brazilian music has African influence like Reggae does. Listen carefully to the percussion utilizing the "upbeat" rather than the downbeat you're probably used to hearing.
@misteredwino I'm sorry but I showed you comment to some musicians and they cracked up laughing. Think and research before you post something online. I know I do.
ahhh, porque estou tão sozinho.........

"There is a song that I think Tom doesn't remember anymore...
Tom what if you created a song right now,
that could tell us, tell what love is.
Tom: 'Look Jõao, I wouldn't know, without Vinicius to create the poetry.
For this song to be made, I'd like João to sing it.'
Ah but who am I... I am plus you two.
How good would it be if we sang all three..."
It goes like that, but I couldn't transpose all the rhymes to English.
It's so pretty that I thought I should tell you what it meant.

@potentperson Mhm, this comment sounds familiar. The op doesn't like criticism though.

Marvellous version, rare, well before a poor saxophonist comes all to ransack

Maybe it's some ambitious bros that spent to much time with a metronome. The bass feels right on.
And, really? ud. gringos?
I have a hard time believing that guys from south america lol.

@misteredwino I guess you get the syncopation.

@sifupr I would say that is a failed attempt at syncopation.
