Dick Cully's pompous behavior always makes me smile. He's a freakish Buddy Rich impersonator who goes to any length necessary to exaggerate his accomplishments to any retiree who will listen. Ironically, I also think he's a pretty good drummer. But it's too bad he goes to so much trouble trying to prove to Art Verdi and others that he's the only poodle who gets to prance on the sidewalk. He just seems to live in a constant state of antagonism. Besides Art didn't even release this video anyway.
I want to see and hear you perform with a band, any kind of band, in front of a live audience. Prove your solo's to the average individual are SO captivating. You have mesmerized a small portion of the drum junkies in the world, but I don't hear any music and question your reason for being a Pied Piper to what? Your in your shorts, playing in a closet or your bedroom?
Cymbals don't shine and your drum heads look like re-treads. The World's WHAT?????
Great drummer, crappy video. This guy can sit and give a decent roll with one hand - no rim bounce, theres maybe 2 other living drummers i've seen do it, they got to be the fastest
rockon1883 is another little idiot troll who plays like he was in a fight with a power tool. He's maybe the worst musician on youtube. Kid, you need to shut up a minute and apologize to Mr. Verdi for thinking you could come over here and be stupid.
@slaving300 Well, let's try to remember Art was in his 50's when he broke Johnny Rabb's record 10 years ago.
In addition to that the first time Art broke the record he wasn't trying to do it. He was in his home and he just happened to do it on tape. When he did it again for the official WMD record he scored even higher.
Mike Mangini did break Art's record but since then Mike's record has been broken as well.
if u think the guys in death metal are slow look at This Calling - by All That Remains in the verse its AWESOME!!! its not really death metal but im not sure
Tastey. But why would he ever get into death metal -- to play less technically demanding, less musical solos at a slower speed? Seriously, death metal musicians have nowhere near the speed or technique of Verdi. None of the dudes I've seen live could pull off any of AV's stuff ... not even with that cheater "gravity blast" technique they like to use. This is way beyond anything I've ever seen a guy like Flo Mournier do live.
What I've seen him do live is all feet and very very weak hands. It's completely unimpressive. Direct me to some of his jazz playing and I might change my mind.
No need to get rude, mate. We're just expressing our opinions. I am familiar with Flo's abilities, having heard Cryptopsy's discs and seen the band play live -- Flo simply isn't a top notch drummer relative to jazzbos like Verdi (or top [players like Rich and Bellson), in my opinion.
I'm in totally agreement with you, Richcapo! Flo is boring, his phrasings SUCK, very random and uninteresting and non musical. Art Verdi is a thousand times faster, no doubt AT ALL! Take care.

Hi, cadaverr. Thanks for the support. I listen to some death metal, but have never been impressed by the drumming. Especially not compared to modern jazz drummers like Chambers and Weckl or the ture greats like Buddy Rich.
Buddy rich ftw

Well said richcapo. The only people who slam Verdi are 15-20 year old drum forum noobs who do what the 25 year old drum forum noobs tell them.

yeah flo sucks. his kind of "fast double bass" is such a gimmick

Flo used to play jazz drums ya retard.
Death metal can be just as demanding as the musicians make it.
I could place some damn fine jazz drums behind death metal and I know it would turn out great.
