German Sheperds are considered the second smartest breed of dog. I own two , both males and both over 100 pounds. I have them trained to bark on certain commands. For example if I am walking them and some eight ball is walking towards me, all I say it " Schutzen Sie" It means " Protect" and the dogs will bark at the dude. Just about every time they cross the street.

When I was a kid, I used to look after the neighbours' German Shepherd. She was smart, friendly, but with that sense of goofy fun her breed is known for. They like to play with their friends, whether human or not. Her quirk was water. Water the garden with the hose, or turn on a sprinkler, and she would inevitably stick her mouth over it to drink. Not lick at the stream, but put her mouth over it

My GS Dog Riley, is very huge for his age too! We took him to the vet to get him nuetered and we were told that one of the vets said: "Tell these people that he is not 6 months old, he's got to be well over a year." Well mr. know it all we have my puppy's papers and you're wrong. :) I have videos of him growing up.
