  • hahah thanks for this video!!! I work with the boys whos on this!!!

  • @Blimos My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it...Bob

  • excellent video - it's so good to see the essential railway work that most people never see or care about, but without it - NO trains!

  • lol that people mover sucks what if it rains snows lol wind

  • These are real men that won't be bothered by a little wind and rain...lol...Bob

  • that is a really gd vid well done

  • Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it...Bob

  • 2:10 thats why all our grabs are broken, cos the op`s pick them up with the fasseta beam

  • Sorry to have captured something that the operator shouldn't have been doing, that certainly wasn't my attention...Thanks for taking the trouble to comment...Bob

  • What Hydrex have kept quiet are the amount of redundancies that they have had and the fact that they are currently off the Network Rail approved suppliers list. I guess the bigger the company the more money it takes to feed it, rumours abound that they will be shut within the next four weeks unless someone bails them out, pity really......

  • where did you hear that from

  • That first guy in the video, where is his helmet?!

  • I don't know if his duties required him to wear one...Bob

  • Network Rail policy is that you are to always have a helmet on at all times, there is only one slight exception when track patrolling, which you must have your helmet on your belt.

  • Thanks very much for that information...Bob

  • I believe The line reopened sat 10th jan.

  • The line will have it's first test train tomorrow up to GCG..Bob

  • those hydrex cranes are fantastic we have got 2 down chasewater and they are a life saver makes p.way easy to do.

  • Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated..Bob

  • Excellent stuff and a lucky find. Great to see the GCG branch coming back into service - its only been there since 1841 !.

Have lots of good memories of it in the 1960's and 1970's with Landore class 37's going up about 4 times a day. Can even remember steam with 2-8-2 72xx tank engines as a small child (even in what is now the Tesco car park in Ammanford - then the goods yard) More please as I am a long way from the Amman Valley.

  • Thanks for those kind comments, and I'm pleased it brought back so many happy memories for you. I shall upload more from the branch as an when it happens..Bob

  • Are they opening the GCG branch back up then.

By the way great vid Robmasterman

  • Thanks very much for your comments. There has been a great deal of work going on along the branch and at the top end in rediness for the conveying of coal traffic from GCG However I have heard conflicting stories over recent months, but as this video shows, something seems to be going on...Bob

  • Nice one Bob,your end of the line getting all the interesting stuff.

  • Thanks Roger, more luck than anything else..Bob

  • Haha! Definetely not something you see everyday! That people carrier isn't something I'd expect of the great Network Rail :P Anyway, 5*, well done Bob (again)

  • Thanks Greg, these things usually happen at night or away from public access so it's nice to capture this very important aspect of the railway scene. It wasn't planned, butI'm glad I managed to capture it..Bob

  • Something a little different Bob and very nicely filmed. I wouldn't mind a ride in the people mover over the S & C!!

  • Ha..ha..perhaps we could hite it for the weekend Austin, are you game?..Bob

  • Very nice video Bob! Will try and go on the Heart of Wales one day. 5*

  • It's a fantastic line with superb scenery and beautiful stations along it's route. However there are only 4 services in each direction and it's been like that since the 1950's to my knowledge..Bob

  • unfortunately..no

we went to carmarthen instead .. :( mum wouldnt drive me up there lol

  • Thant's OK I was concerned that you were at Llandilo waiting for it.

  • What A brilliant video bob! itrs a shame about the trackj, and no trains and everything, but somehow, you can still pull off yet another gpood video. i thoughrouly enjoyed that. keep this good work up mate. all the best!

  • Cheers Will, and thanks for your kind comments. I hadn't planned this one, and who knows what will turn up on the next video eh!..Bob

  • Well caught footage Bob. Were they replacing track? I like the people mover - it's an adapted John Deere 'Gator' utility vehicle (often used on Golf Courses).

  • I'm not sure Ged, they seemed to be lifting pieces of old trach where they stopped, and they've been doing a lot of remedial work further up the branch. It was hoped that considerable tonnages of coal would be brought out by rail rhather than road, but nothing came of it. EWS reportedly not having the resources to meet this requirement. So perhaps there's some hope for it yet...Bob

  • Great vid mate! Nice close up shots there.

  • Thanks very much Rich

  • i love station names is wales i really like the name: rhiwbina on the coryton branch line

  • That's the beauty of Welsh isn't it Alex

  • very nice.

  • Thanks Chris..Bob

  • Excuse me I think your having us on here. where was the heavy rain, dark clouds and wind that we had this morning. does that mean they are opening that branch line up.

  • Welcome back Lou! Been sunny everywhere I go.Ha..ha .They've been on about re-opening the branch for years, and there has been a lot spent on it recently, so I do hope so it will bring much needed traffic to the local rail services.
