Think it was about £1650 form Peter Cooks. All Strats are different make sure you play em. Some have it, others don't it's weird. And just because one is more expensive than the other doesn't make it better. I've played some mexicans that play better than the custom shop ones.
@chooseyourblues hehehe... you're actually as tall as john mayer... what do you think are the advantages and the disadvantages of having bigger than usual fingers when it comes to guitar playing?
I went to Manny's guitar shop, (which is now Sam Ash) and I bought this guitar. greatest guitar ive ever heard or played. if you open up the specs and take the guitar apart though.... its actually surprisingly a 61'. Its got the custom shop 60's pickups though.
i was reading some forums just now about the pickups in john mayers custom shop black1 strat, and the idea that bare knuckle apache pickups sound similar. what do you think having played with these pickups?
62 'Relic' in Surf Green made from scratch by a local Luthier, looks more like Sonic blue in the video though. Some old dudes who know their shit tell me it's the closest thing to an origianl they have ever seen. I like it. It has a large '59' style neck, thicker than the 60.
sounds like this was influnced by Vultures a little. nice. I jsut bought a brand new Fender Custom Shop '64 relic. be sure to check out my demos and JM covers!
great playing and great sound. How much was that beauty , I am considering buying ( non relic) strat sunburst. thx for any info Berh

Would you recommend the Deville for John Mayer style playing?
Im tossing up between the Deville and the 65' Deluxe RI and wondering which is best for those really nice clean tones on soething like slow dancing..
Thanks Nathan

What amp are you playing this through? Did you have to play alot of CS strats to find the one that you liked and had this tone?

As regards the guitar, no I just bought it on the net.... I just got lucky.

Nice, nice, nice guitar. I just bought a '56 Relic. If I buy another strat, it'll be the '60 Relic. What model is the blue one?
