ULTRA MAGNUS admitted to being just a soldier. he wasnt built to hold the matrix of leadership. He iz my favorite transformer, however, he lacked Prime leadership. if you look @ the Headmasters series that continued in japan youll see what happened when he fought sixshot

at least ultra magnus made his way through most of the movie....to be honest i was glad to see prime die at the beginning!

Always good to see two of my favorite things melded into one. I freakin' love magnus and am all about him and prime being "brothers" there's just so much stuff to point to that anyways even before the dreamwave stuff and even RiD.

I think people don't understand internal character struggles and take into account the character's background. Like everyone flaming about when I think springer says "Kup and hot rod just bought it" and he says "I can't deal with that right now" and people say he's a dick for it.

So tell me then those that flame, if you're being chased down like a rat, your huge ass city base just bought it, some planet sized monster is eating your homeworld and you think almost all the autobots are toast from fighting also, and as you're trying to dodge missles and laser fire what are you supposed to say when someone tells you another ship just got destroyed?

Magnus did all he could, he just told springer "Hey, shutup I'm trying to concentrate on us NOT DIEING!" Good video and good point on him trying to open the matrix and his mind-set. How could he not believe that they were damn near the last autobots and this was the end for ALL of them? The dude was a real leader the writers just wrote him shitty cause they wanted to make hot rod look so good (the little fuck, he is nothing!)

This is part of the reason Rodimus doesn't really appeal to me that much. He's very likable and sweet and brave like Magnus, but his overall personality is somewhat of a cliché whereas Magnus is more interesting to me as an adult fan of Transformers. I love Prime, but Magnus exceeds even him in my favoritism ;)

Yes! And let me also say I think it's so cool how Magnus fans really stick together. It's better to have a smaller fanbase of really dedicated fans than a huge fanbase of mediocre fickle fans. And we don't just like the guy, we REALLY REALLY REALLY like him and stand by him when other people give him a bad rap he doesn't deserve. Thanks for the comments :)

I like him too, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next movie, with a great new look (a Peterbilt fire truck, perhaps?).

Hell, how fitting would it be if Brawn, Prowl, Ratchet, Ironhide, Windcharger, Wheeljack, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus were the surviving Autobots at the end of the live action trilogy, on account of what happened to them in the animated movie?

(Not that I'm down on Bumblebee, mind you, but I have a nasty feeling he may be killed off to add emotional pull.)

Hey Nutty - wow if Ultra Magnus was alonside the Autobots in particular Prime himself in the live action movies of 2007 and 2009 would've smashed it - the sheer presence of those 2 would've boosted the ratings to some extent considering how flawed parts of the plots were.

People are so quick to judge and don't stop to think: Optimus Prime would have done the EXACT same thing! While Magnus was perhaps a bit more blunt since the situation was grim (and let's face it, Prime never faced anything this colossal as a leader! Poor Magnus got all the "fun" right from the get-go!!) Prime would have said "We can't mourn for them now--we have to get out of here!" which is saying exactly what Magnus said just in a different way!

I'm with you, I freakin' adore Magnus--got hooked on him right from the beginning. He, Galvatron, and Unicron were the big three standouts. Without them the movie might have (would have definitely) sucked ^_~ If they decide to put Magnus in one of the TF sequels coming up, I hope they touch on the brothers thing and give him a great storyline. He deserves it!!

You should also keep in mind that Magnus THOUGHT this was the Autobots darkest hour as well. So when he took out the Matrix he had in mind that he and his comrades might be the only Autobots left and now they were cornered. Ultra Magnus is the best! (A side note: At first I thought it was WWE Kane's old theme XD )

Agreed, he is totally the best! And what you said is so true. What do ya wanna bet that "I knew I wasn't the right choice" was going through his head when he died? I just wanna throttle him and say "It doesn't matter, Magnus! You're still amazing in your own right and you are needed and looked up to by everyone! If I were the writer I'd let you be leader... I've written fanfictions about him and everything, I'm working on a drawing of him still. I do think that's one of the things I love about him, being unconfident and such. It's just something you would never expect from such an amazing mech ^^

Snowsorceress - UM's lack of confidence portrays him as being more human than anything else and i'm sure many of us can relate to that. On the outside he looks a titan and is fealess but on the inside we all know what he's going through. He's not as glamourous as some of the other autobots but that's precisely what i like about him - the unsung hero!
