  • Gannon was a great quarterback for my Raiders. I firmly believe if he won and played well in the Superbowl to the Buc's, he would be a strong candidate for the Hall of Fame. He's probably my favorite Raider quarterback because I throw sidearm like him. I just really wanted him to win a ring, he was a tremendous talent.

  • I MISS THE GOOD OL DAYS..........

  • shoulda kept curry.

  • @shadowsthatmove23 Curry used to be good. Too many injuries though. He was one of those "coulda been great" receivers.

  • he was their best quarterback ever. saddd :( I miss those superbowl years. now we have jemarcus........35% completion percentage.....just shoot me now@!

  • @rainbowsexparty94 If JaMarcus can't keep his weight down, he probably won't be here much longer. What a POS. Robbed us of $30 million

  • too bad the raiders are embarrisingly horrible now :(

  • DAMN THAT WAS CLASSIC!!!

  • is miss Gannon so bad ... he wears # 12 the qb the best number 4 qb's

  • Gannon was great, can't beleive he's not coaching somewheres, major talent

  • Gannon was like a fine tuned machine!!!

This guy is an awesome talent on and off the field!!!

He was the GOAT QB for the Raiders!

  • I heard the Raiders had plans to bring him in during camp to help give JaMarcus some instruction. Not sure if it ever happened though.

  • @Chuckonbass67 He offered to help coach JaMarcus, but the Raiders turned him down. Al Davis has become so paranoid, he tried to ban Gannon from the Raiders' facilities.

  • @gcannon12 the reason why al davis turned down rich gannon was because he talked shit about the raiders on tv.. thats why..during his anouncing of football games.. he would say the current raiders are like a circus and this and that.. then when he offered to help out al davis pretty much gave gannon the finger. from what i remember he offered to help the raiders organization. but wasnt specific on helping Russell. even if Russell does cut 50 Lbs that doesnt mean his acuracy will get better.

  • @gcannon12

it wasn't mr. burns, it was that piece of shit john herrera in the front office.

  • altho i live on the east coast, i can't imagine how nice it would be to be a Raiders fan whn Russell n McFadden are legitttttt...chills

  • I miss Gannon we should have Hired him as Head COach and he can teach Russel how to a Good QB, What happend to him after this game? his last TD?

  • He got hurt with a neck injury in the game after this against the Bucs. Was out for the season and retired :-(

  • Gannon was the best quarterback the raiders ever had. he brought them into the superbowl, and threw bunches of touchdowns. i miss him.

  • I miss Gannon so much, he was the best leader Oakland had since Plunkett or Stabler!

  • those were the good old days

  • Raider fan forever! R-A-I-D-E-R-S!

  • When Gannon went down, the Raiders went down.

  • It's been a long fall, for sure. We need to bring in a real GM

  • Look at that time he had to throw!!

  • As a loyal raider fan, what do you guys feel about this distraction with Lane's firing?

  • Just for the record, he's not fired yet. I guess I meant with the "idea" of his firing.

  • I remember that like it was yesterday. That was fucking great. I miss Rich Gannon.

  • So do i. Gannon was awesome.

  • i miss rich...

  • WE NEED GANNON BACK!!!

  • Plunkett was THE man, let's bring him back!

  • i hope russell could save us the raider nation like rich gannon did i went to like mostly all the games last year and they sucked but im hoping this season we will at least get like 7 and 9 of sumthing

  • One of my fav. Qb's, he had the sidearm action, was smart, and he could scramble... Played with pure heart. Respect 2 R.G.

  • YEAH GOOD INSIGHT MNA. GANNON WAS A GREAT MOBILE QB, AND NO ONE EVER GIVES HIM CREDIT FOR HIS ESCAPEABILITY. I THINK THIS RAIDERS DEFENSE IS GONNA BE OFF THE CHAIN IN 2008 BUT OUR O-LINE IS TERRIBLE IN PASS PROTECTION. AND RUSSELL IS TOO YOUNG AND CAN'T MAKE A LOT OF THROWS ROLLIN' OUT LIKE GANNON COULD. I MET LESTER HAYES 2 MONTHS AGO & HE SAID AT 52 HE COULD COME OFF THE EDGE ON A CB BLITZ AND GET BY K. HARRIS FOR THE SACK. AFTER THAT FIASCO SAT. NIGHT HE MAY BE RIGHT. :( i HOPE NOT. LETS PRAY

  • wish we still had a guy like GANNON god brings back memories and it wasnt that long ago, lets stay hopeful this could be a breakout year for us....RAIDER NATION

  • Gannon is my top 3 raider ever!

  • Gannon was the man

  • He definetly was the man

  • Aww, the memmories. I really miss those days. Gannon won MVP honors but I don't think he'll ever get the credit he fully deserves. IMO, he was the complete QB.

  • Interesting note that is also Rich Gannon's last Touchdown throw in the NFL

  • i always like rich gannon and tim brown, eventhough im not a raider fan.

  • my qb idol growing up

  • mine too. sure do miss the guy.

    Please Russell, save us!

  • I was never a fan of the Raiders (Thought I wanted them to win SB XXXVII) but I did like Rich Gannon alot for the poise he showed and for his willingness to run when other QBs his age would have stayed and scampered about for a sack.

This guy had a cannon. It's a shame Gruden sold him out.

  • so good to see so many people with an appreciation for Gannon. I wear my #12 Jersey with pride. I think if Rich had been a Raider under Coach Gruden's system for a significant part of his career ( had Gruden remained our coach ), he would be mentioned in the same breath as some of the truly great qb's of the modern time - true field general.

  • i miss Gannon so much, fuck all who say he sucks

  • ahhh i miss these days the 12-4's turned into 2-14's, we need a new rich gannon hopefully jmarc will pull through.

  • That was Gannon's last TD and Curry's first.

  • Gannon would have made a great coach. I was hoping that he would remain on the staff as a qb's coach.

  • That's what I was hoping too.

  • Rich Gannon WAS a coach, he led the team such as PManning does, the game he played bad we lost games good we won... so when we lost him we lost so much more than a team could handle

  • Excellent, excellent points foxfire.

  • In 2005 he was offered a backup QB spot or the OB coaches job in Tampa Bay. He probably said 'no' so he wouldn't get sold out by Gruden again.

  • man rich gannon was the best quarterback in the league in the time period where he was starting. he sat down and manning has become the best ever since. nobody remembers gannon but he was great. so accurate, so wily, so good

  • Not bad for a guy who was accused of having "no arm"

Rich Gannon = grossly underrated quarterback

  • as much as i love gannon, he had no arm. that throw was as long as he could throw it and it was about 45 yards. he was as accurate as they come, which more than made up for it

  • Hey gcannon this video is just great... its only a few seconds but it brings back so much memories on gannon breaking records for us. In 2002 he threw for 4000 yards how can people call him a fluke?? Now as for the raiders now, I feel like we are in a stump where we cant find the good players out of the draft. We need a WR more than people realize because the ones we have just cant get open. NOt enough speed on em.

  • I love curry to death, but he gets caught from behind too. Jonnie lee Higgins is too small to be a #1 threat, he needs to beef up a little. Because if we can get Two legit WR people CANT put 8 in the box, and that takes a load off the O-line and Our running backs, it be Justin or Mike Bush. We can sprinkle in some new oline but that will take a while to get back to 2002's.

  • Curry is a class act and a fan favorite, but he was never especially fast and it seems like he has become even slower after these ankle injuries. I remember back before his first injury he replaced Porter as our #1 WR. But the fact now is that he is took slow to be a #1 or probably even a #2. He's a possession guy, probably best in the slot in 3rd down situations.

  • achilles injuries and yeah he is probably best suited for the slot

  • And then there is our defense. This could take forever so im gonna shorten it up. Our run defense is SO pathetic. We made bums off the street look like AP or LT. We are so lucky AP was hurt and broke the rushing record on the Dolts. The ONLY, i say again ONLY reason our pass defense is at 5th is because I think only 2 teams have had less passes thrown to them... come on, why pass if a 80 yard run is just as effective.

  • But however it goes, Ive been hurtin with this team for years, Im IN

Win Lose or tie RAIDERS till i Die

From FOB Liberty Baghdad Iraq (On my way home from soon)

    SPC Frank

(ps read from bottom to top, did it backwards)

  • Thanks foxfire. And I don't know why some people call him a fluke. He was a damn good QB, but only given a shot late in his career. He won NFL MVP at age 38.

  • Our 3 top needs are as follows:

    1) Wide Receiver

    2) Defensive Line (specifically, DT then DE)

    3) Offensive Line

We need to upgrade at all of these positions if we want to win more than 4 games next year.

Then, we need to eventually address:

    4) Safety (Huff needs some serious help, and needs to improve his game)

    5) MLB (Morrison should probably be playing the outside)

  • Yep i agree 100%.... im so mad at our safety position... and this is after having such good safetys... i like james hardy, cause he is 6'7 and a lot like plaxico..... then we can try to get jake long, cause that would be cool =).. and o line is a HUGE black hole for the black hole

  • I kinda gave up on college ball after the Cal Bears imploded, but I'm pretty sure we couldn't go wrong with any of the following: Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis, Chris Long, or Jake Long. Haven't heard of Hardy but geez 6'7"! And if he's anything like Plaxico then grab him!

Our safeties played like crap. If only we could get Bob Sanders over here...

  • ouch cal.... ouch. USC for life bb!!!

  • i think your right with oakland's top 3 needs

I've heard some pretty good things about Al getting a powerhouse receiver i don't think where gonna get Chad Johnson but Roy Williams is a strong possibility and the o-line has been weak, robert gallery hasn't turned out to be a great addition

i also have a question for you gcannon12: out of these 3 WR,Which one do you think oakland will acquire(Chad Johnson, Roy Williams, Bernard Berrian)

  • Actually he was 37 when we won MVP. One of the greatest QBs ever, always effective when given the chance. Coaches didn't like him because of his sidearm delivery.

  • i miss those gannon pump fakes :(

  • me too! i also miss the quick-reads and the ability to pick apart an opposing defense, in contrast to what we have now: QBs taking forever to go through their progressions, inaccurate throws, etc.

hopefully Russell is our next star at QB. we need to get him a real threat at WR though!

  • Next year, man. Russell Mania.

  • Nice video!! Gannon to Curry! It's like a transfer of the next generation!! I can't believe that Curry has been with us for soooo long!!!

  • well raiders aint got much to lose, the only good we got right now is our defence, we need someone like russel to provide that spark on offence. Also, we need a speedy WR who can get down the field for a long pass by JR

  • the raiders new a completely new offensive line. there is simply a lack of talent there with sims, green, newberry/grove, and gallery. carlisle is about the only guy who's talented enough to start, and he's not even that good.

we definitely need to improve our WR corps, we don't have a real #1 guy; Curry is good in the slot, and Porter will show up for a game then disappear for a stretch. my opinion: he's in it for the money, not the team.

  • hopefully M Bush pans out at RB and J Russell at QB. i wish we could have seen some of M Bush this year.

our run defense is awful. we need new d-lineman and a true MLB; morrison looks like he would be better off on the outside. we also need a safety to replace S Schweigert: he's just plain awful.

  • ya, but for our D line the real thing we need is a only 1 more good defensive lineman then he inspires all the rest, burgess is a monster but thats it. Sapp used to be that guy but now u cant keep him happy for nothing. our O-line is just plain terrible, they need to cut gallery already cuz hes just a whole in our wallet

  • Burgess can be a good pass-rusher but lately he's been giving up big plays on RB cutbacks.

Sapp looks a lot older this year for sure. sands is not who we thought he was when we gave him that contract. Kelley, Warren, Richardson, Clemons, and burgess are all guys that can be worked with, but you're right: we need an Albert Haynesworth in there.

  • Glad to see someone knows wat they are talking about =p, but really the raiders team is just plain terrible. Its gonna be a while before they are good again. But im gonna support them the whole time cuz one a raider always a raider

  • Being 5th in the NFL in pass defense right now, and 1st last year I think they're just fine with Stu and Morrison were there at. And Pro Bowl Derrick Burgess ain't good enough for ya? How about field-goal-blocking Kelly, or Sapp Man? The Defensive is working damn hard out there, man. Go Russell Mania!!!

  • GO RAIDERS!

  • this is gannons last ever td pass and curry's first ever

  • yep. i forgot to put that angle in the video description.

  • lol i have a gannon jersey which i still fit in =p but hes my fave player of all time, i even throw side are like him

  • LOL, yeah I have my Gannon Jersey that I got back before the 2000 season and at times it doesn't fit me, but when I get back in shape I can wear it with pride! I think the QB always takes a bad wrap after a Super bowl loss, but a lot of Raiders fans like me are wishing to see someone like him behind center again..even if they throw side arm too, haha.

  • hey what ever it takes to get the ball downfield, i'll take a great side arm QB of all time =D

  • Exactly. I am listening to the game as of now and they are down at the half to the Texans 17-0. I say...Al Davis, Lane Kiffin..we need a better QB no doubt! McCown just threw 3 interceptions in the first half alone!

  • I know man, they outta start jamarcus russel from now, hey we aint got nothing to lose, maybe he can have a vince young type season, you'll never know without trying

  • yeah, Seriously! I can't believe they were in first place (while 2-2) AND NOW they are in last place again. It's like the Raiders haven't been in 1st for so long, they freaked when they got there. YES! JaMarcus Russell should definitely play. I heard Coach Kiffin say that Russell has come a long way in a short time. I mean, what are they waiting for? McCown is just hot&cold. Cullpepper started off well, then simmered down. I think we need to go with option #3 = Russell.

  • It may have been two interceptions in the first half actually, but i'll have to look it up *NOTE: i posted this last sunday on my girlfriends sn by mistake*

  • if J Russell has half the smarts Gannon had, the Raiders will be in great shape! especially since his physical abilities are well above and beyond nearly every other QB in the league.

  • i like the side-arm throw. heck, as long as the ball is on target, it doesn't matter how you do it! and gannon was very accurate. i think he had 21 consecutive completions in one of his games against denver.

  • Lmfao Lol ur too fat too wear it

  • damn i miss GANNON ..i stilll have is jersey .but im too fat to wear it......i need to lose weight

  • i still have my gannon jersey: plan on wearing it to the home opener against detroit!

  • That's the Gannon legacy.

  • yep! he really knew how to use the pump-fake.

hopefully russell can be the next great raider QB.

  • I love your handle! I think Russell has all the tools but does he have the heart? I can only hope Gannon makes it to the HOF.

  • now it doesn't even look like russel will sign. how can you turn down $30 million guaranteed, its crazy.

so right now, no, i'm thinking russell doesn't have the heart.

Gannon likely won't make it to the Hall of Fame b/c he only had a few really good seasons and never won the SB, but he'll always be remembered as one of the raider greats at QB!

  • There is a chance he might make it in, he was league MVP and the new crop of sports writers are a lot more forgiving than the mummies that are in the HOF commitee right now. I called it though, they should have drafted Calvin Johnson and made a play for Culpperper and should have found a way to keep HRH, Randy Moss happy, I bet you anything this team would be a contender this year. Sometimes, I just don't get Mr. Burns (Davis), anymore.

  • I think Russel will sign by this weekend. You cannot turn down 30 mil. he will ride the bench of course since he missed training camp but he will sign by the end of this weekend
