  • I am sure this German Short Rows technique is good. However the Lady in the Video didn't pause for a minute. She kept going and talking and talking.. So this isn't going to be help.

I realize I can pause but the speed of her narrating the video doesn't help a beginner with

    trying to do Short

    Rows. Thank you.

  • @ChantChorales

These videos are part of a column on German Short Rows, which appeared in This Week in Ravelry. The article contains a written explanation of short rows, compares this technique to the wrap and turn method, and has many up close photographs. You can find that column on Ravelry. After logging in, click on the link to issue 86 of This Week in Ravelry, which is on the right hand side of the screen.

  • Can I use this technique for socks?

  • @TeenYarnie Sure, you can. Typically, the first half of a short row heel is worked using this technique, then a couple of rounds are worked, and then the second half of the heel is worked. The Germans call this a "Jo Jo" (yo-yo) heel.

  • Hi, I enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering which yarn are you using in this one, I love the colors.

  • @ladyanaely

The variegated yarn is a (unfortunately) discontinued Plymouth Galway Paint colorway. I really liked using it for teaching purposes. I wish I could still get it!

  • Yes, you can use this technique when knitting in the round.

  • can you use this technique when knitting in the round?

  • Thank you for finally putting a name to this technique, and doing such a nice clear video. I've been using this same technique for about 2 years now, learned it from Ruth Kindla's book, and hadn't seen it anywhere else. I'm glad it's finally coming to youtube. I love shortrows because of this technique!

  • lovelyyyyyyyyyyyyy <3

  • its beautiful I really liked this video. Thanks for sharing your techniques.

  • Amazing! I just learned W&T and this looks much easier. Now if I can only "wrap" my brain around it......;^)

  • And here I thought I'd tried short rows in every conceivable way. Thanks!

  • Brilliant! Thank you so much to share the technique. It saved my new project.

Friendly regards from a Brazilian knitter.

    Grace
