  • The Dallas Christian Choir has so many beautiful versions of hymns such as this. I have all their cd's from when I worked at a funeral home.

This has been my favorite ever since I was a little boy growing up in the Church of Christ.

    The words are so true!!!!

  • The first evrse of this was sung as my sisters and I were baptised this morning. :) An amazing song.

  • When we(I and my mom) asunder part.It gives us inward pain but we shall still be joined in heart and hope to meet again.

Mom,I will meet you again in heaven.

  • Very nice! Many thanks for sharing!

  • In the 18th. century John Fawcett, who wrote these words was Baptist minister in a village a few miles away from where I live. Offered a much bigger church, the love that his congregation had for him persuaded him to stay where he was, and he wrote "Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love "

  • Music is great. Now comb through the Bible and see which commandments we need to attend to, such as "call no man father", no repetetive prayers, no bowin down to statues, teach our children the story of the Exodus, speak the law of the Torah constantly, kill the descendants of Amalek. SPURN THE MUSE!!

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (May 16), I filled in at a local Lutheran Church and played this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #656 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. We also sung it at my father's funeral.

  • @mkl62 I think it is a funeral song. This was sung at a HS play way back when that was still allowed.

  • @Evangeline220 It can also be sung at weddings. When my cousin got married (June 1969), we sang this during the wedding. It was her fiance's favorite hymn.

  • @mkl62 That's a great idea! The tie that binds Christians brothers and sisters is strong and such a blessing to me.

  • @Evangeline220 Wasn't this song sung in "Our Town"?

  • @Evangeline220 yupp our HS is doing it and we have to sing this during the first Act

  • @Evangeline220 That's why I'm looking it up - I'm in a performance of it and none of us had a clue how the tune went!

  • @Eponine83 break so many legs!!!!! :) :) :)

  • @Evangeline220 yes it was

  • Amen & Amen. Stirringly beautiful and also poignant .

What about those whom we may never meet again once we cross over Jordan ?.

Separation is the outcome if we are not all washed & bathed in the Blood and His Righteousness. Be ye ready!!!

  • Thought of the ELCA as we sang this at the nursing home this morning.

    Pr. Bob

  • ahh, this will be facebooked via twitter in a few, hope you like. I like your piece a lot. All three verses. We sang them tonight in church just like that, plus you have all the words up; same same us.

  • The fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above!! (That's what keeps us together in Christian Love)

We share our mutual woes our mutual burdens bear!!!! (each our own trial and tribulations but one in the same in creation love).

God Is Love Let Us All Love!!!
