stevie he may not be a savant but he did not just 'turn around'. His brain damage has severely affected his behaviour. He has painted his ENTIRE house (walls ceiling, floor, stairs etc.) five times over because he cannot stop himself from painting. There was no realization, and the life he leads now is probably not the life he would lead given a choice. He is help captive by his brain damage. In this way he is similar to some savants.
