  • I have done this 3 times. It's safe, warm...enthralling...exciting! :)

  • Btw, That's not a mermaid. Just wanted to tell you that. :)

  • The don't sting at all because they lost their stings over a 1000 years ago. Long time ago, the lake was connected to an underground tunnel, then something caused it to collapse and that time the jellyfishes were sealed in so they multiply by eating algae. their only predator is the sea's anemone at the bottom so the jellyfishes avoid it so they don't need to use their stings. They just absorb the sun's energy everyday so they don't really mind if humans get in.

    :) your welcome

  • white folks is crazy

  • Fuck that! This scary as hell even if they dont sting

  • I wannt to go swim theree <33

  • they look like cauliflower

  • @origindirewolf---LOL! Yep! They do (look like Cauliflower), huh?

  • i heard that they originally do sting, but the non existing predator in the lake causes them to lose that ability..they evolved into a stingless jellyfish and uses their tentacles instead to find food..

  • omg it is such an amazing experience to swim with the jellyfishes... and growing up in Palau its one of my fave childhood memories ... I miss it :(

  • That's crazy

  • Omg that's so sketchy even though they don't sting just having so many around you must be a little overwhelming lol:)

  • Geez she swims down there a little deep..

  • the jellyfish doesn't sting... i know coz I've bin der and i'm a Palauan...

  • @meyunskid001 that sounds like an amazing experience :)

  • guys the jellyfish do not sting, NO NO yea you guys are right they do sting, thats why theres a lady in a two piece in there -__________________-

  • Considering they live off of photosynthesis, and there are no predators, these jellyfish have NO NEED to sting.

  • Jellyfish are pretty cool in my opinion. This species is called the "Blue Jellyfish" which doesn't sting, but rather the tentacles contain an adhesive to catch smaller animals, so jellyfish are predators.

  • ew

  • im never swimming again...

  • Even though they're harmless it's still recommended you don't swim with them if you suffer from eczema.

  • do you want touch my jellyfish?

  • sooooooooooooooooooooo down for that! I <3 JELLIES!

  • the jellyfish can't sting they're a special species that got trapped there with no natural predators for thousands of years and so they adapted to not needing to sting.

  • For those of you that are scared of the Jellies

There is nothing bad about them!

They don't sting at all and the only thing you should worrying about is drowning

because the lake is really deep and on the bottom is some natural "chemicals"

that is toxic. But really, Its a amazing feat and Palau is a nice place to visit :)

  • I have been there twice! It's amazing and enthralling!

And yes, they have no stingers at all. And there is also some cool small silver fish here & there.

  • they look like mushrooms in the water :P

  • They are so cute. i would swim there but. FUCK TO THE NO. im not getting fucking stung.

  • There SOO CUTE

  • Don't the jelly fish sting???

  • OMFG I WOULD BE TERRIFIED!

  • i dont think any mermaids are in this!smh.and if this was a commercial, its the longest one ive ever seen except those proactive commercials

  • thats such a bad idea

    !!!!

  • Wouldn't you get, um, I don't know, STUNG?!?

  • Imagine that.. but at night

  • I went there last year FREAKING AMAZING

  • i think its little bit scare :D

  • i want to visit.

  • @kneeyuckah No, they actually don't have their strings because there isn't any predators there to hunt them.

  • do they sting?

  • thats scaryD:

  • OMG jellyfish massacre!

  • i wana go there 1 day

  • what kind of jellyfish are theses? and why arent they stinging them ?

  • @spritepot I think it's because their natural predators don't exist in that lake so they were allowed to evolve without stingers.

  • 1:27 was cool, it looked like fun

  • what is the music called playing in the background? its so nice!

  • FUCK THAT IM NOT SWIMMING IN THERE

  • @Slashyism

They can't harm you. Because of the crater that's evolved, it's pushed out all the bigger fish etc and there is no predators which mean they've lost their sting :)

  • @Slashyism Fucking right ! xD i prefer swimming on a shark pool but jellyfish never !!

  • @Slashyism too much health and safty

yo chuck me in there any time :D

    i wanna be there ^^

  • why does jellyfish sting?

  • Been there, done that... :-)

  • I'm gonna wear a wet-suit if i ever go in there.

  • They do sting, but it's too weak for humans to feel. But if the tentacles contact the mouth, it just feels like a tiny sting, like static electricity. I swam in there once. AWESOME.

  • They have no natural enemies that's why they dont sting.

  • @sasq101 but they do sting

  • @slashlister1234 Yeah, but unless you are allergic to it it won¿t harm you and you won¿t notice it. ^^ They have no natural predators, so they aren't as strong. ^^

  • @akissy k.

  • @Mermaid3Amber me too. it's not even the getting stung part that scares me (much).. it's the fact that they're just so lifeless..

  • I love that dragonfly necklace! Do you know where she got it from? (that is, if you even know her). :-)

  • dont they sting you?

  • im guessing they dont sting....

  • @QuinnLovesND they do but its not very dangerous .. still its annoying because i lets you resh

  • I really like the video. I wish I could go there and swim with the jellyfish.

  • hornet, wasp, bee, yellow jacket, jellyfish scares me so much but i was not stinged by one of those in my life!

  • @Timi116 I have been stung by a hornet -hurts for about an hour and puffs up, rinse it down with cold water) and a jellyfish (where the hell did it come from?)

  • how can u swim in that water

  • SPECIE MEETING

  • elle ne sont pas venimeuse

    ps:repond sur ma chaine

  • 見所はビキニ?

  • 1:00の所、乳輪見えていませんか??

  • 間違えた。

    1分の後ぐらいの間違い。

  • @dngirachelsau I just love how people can't get a joke, don't you?

  • Jellyfish are cute <3

  • @NL9393 i agree ♥

  • even if they cant sting it would scare the crap outta me

  • whats the music playing called?

  • 2nd scariest video ever

  • this jellyfishs cant sting you. if they did she wouldnt be swiming in thier dont u think?

  • courageous girl!

  • no they dont sting u those jellyfish are farming jellyfish so they dont have a reason to sting u so u can go up and touch one i think u can probably thats one of the reasons why its called Jellyfish lake people love to go there to see the jellyfish have fun if u r going

  • I know right! They are super cute and small! :D

  • No they can't sting, they don't sting. :3 You can hold them and stuff it's awsomes.

  • some people say jelly on sandwhiches came from jellyfish like in spongebob

  • This is a lake in Palau that was once connected to the ocean but has since been cut off. Over time the jellyfish have lost thier sting since there are no natural predators for them.

  • but they still have the hability to sting. if they didnt sting those guys it means they didnt feel like it or didnt have to.

  • @intox2211 well your right, they do have special cells for that (nematocytes), but in the case of the these particular jellyfish they are not in general powerful enough to cause harm to humans.

I should have been more clear when i said they lost thier sting. It just isn't strong enough to harm humans, altho some have reported feeling the effects in very sensitive areas such as around the mouth.

  • scary

  • won't she get sting???

  • @PR166lolly

    Those jellyfishes actually looked friendly...LOL...

  • These Jelly's have been secluded for so long the have genetically have been altered to not sting. I seen that on animal planet.

  • there is no such thing! of course then sting they have special cells for that. and special toxines. sorry my english.

  • dose are giant mustle jellyfish my dad studys jellyfishes

  • I think I saw a nipple!!

  • those ones dont sting

  • OMG - the jellyfish are so cute!

  • i thought u would of got stung but if u didn't then cool!

  • omg i felt so bad at the end because her monofin kept hitting every little jelly fish

  • did u get stung???

  • are these the harmless jellyfish? the one's that won't poison you?

  • Is it a salt lake?

  • NO.. ITS FRESH WATER.

  • its saltwater lake b'coz the water trapped during high tide. also got dischagre water from sea durng high tide

  • doesnt it hurt?

  • not, the golden one not b'coz the lack of venom. the lake no predator for the jellyfish... only anemone there eat that jellyfish..

  • Wauww 8] I want to go there!! =(

  • It would be mean if someone threw a box jelly fish in there 8D

  • This jellyfish are innocuous ;)

  • jellyfish can kill u!

  • @dedeth this isn't jellybox's

  • @dedeth Yes, jellyfishes can. But, in Palau the jelly fishes lost it's ability to sting.

  • nice place,

    very beautiful. id been there

  • Comment removed

  • Beautiful footage but I would be extremely nervous swimming around those jellyfish. The girl is very brave!!

  • they dont sting you not these ones

  • I want to go there so bad! I read about it a while back and forgot about it. ;____;

  • id shit my self , stingers or not!

if i went in there, theyd be full on stingers by time i got out!

  • dont you get stung??

  • nope

  • I Love that song.

What's it called? Who wrote it?

    Beautiful video, also.

  • so cool! =]

  • I had the opportunity to visit Palau in 2007. One of the best trips in my life. Diving in the jellyfish lake was really cool but watching all the tourists kicking them to pieces was a bit exasperating.

  • ;-; Wrry would someone wanna kick something so cute?! Seriously they're just minding their own buisness ;_________;

  • I've seen similar behaviour on my travels.

I was on a dive near at a shallow reef not too long ago and a bunch of french tourists (men in their early/mid twenties) were using sticks and pieces of gear to smash apart urchins and anything else that couldn't run away from them.

I don't understand that mentality. It's so depressing.

In my effort to ask them to stop, the language barrier caused the situation to escalate into a near physical brawl (equally depressing).

  • wow- the exact same thing happened to me and some spanish kids- they were poking this black spiky sausage looking thing that had washed up with stcks, for no reason!

But i dont get it- how come these dont sting?

  • Wow - That's beautiful

  • Can't jellyfish sting you? O.o

Sorry, I'm slow at these things ^-^

  • I read about this lake. When the lake was connected to the ocean the jellfish got in, but then it became landlocked with the jellyfish still inside. Without any real predators to fend off, their stingers sort of devolved. Now their stingers are so minuscule that human skin doesn't even pick up the sting. But you can't swim too deep into the lake because their is a layer of poisonous liquid about 20m down

  • Ohh!

    Thanks ^^

  • ya thats true im pretty sure it is

  • yes but that jellyfish are non stingers

  • Are they just as harmless as moon jellyfish? I have swimmed with moon jellyfish like this......jellyfish are beautiful creatures...if they don´t sting ;-) !

  • i got stung by a jellyfish when i was 8. i learned to love them and now i am going here next month! yay!

  • i have a dream to go there aswel..could u enlight me with the cost? of the trip and the entire vacation it is for personals reasons..i want to know how much money do i have to spend.Thank you

  • your going to palau!! im a native there and im currently in the states now.. been here for 2 years.. i also recommend you going to the dolphin bay as well.. i miss home so much when i see this, ive been here quite how many times and its trully one of the greatest things to experience..

  • no fanks!

  • the music is beautiful and the experience must be absolutely breathtaking

  • eeeeeww! worst lake EVER.

  • THE LAKE DOESNT LIKE YOU EITHER! LOL!

  • I'd love to see creationists attempt to explain this one.

  • it wouldnt be that hard, they came in through a hole from the ocean, and the hole closed, there is no predetors for them so they thrive

  • I meant how would they explain why they've lost their sting. (or at least the severity of it compared to other jellyfish)

  • yea i know they lost their sting over time becuase theree was no predetors

  • Which is evolution.

  • no shit evolution obv. exist but not as much as primate to human

  • who is this music by? its beautiful...

  • I must know as well.

  • The music is called "Abandoned" by Freeplay Music, (specifically by Robert Davidson & Scott P. Schreer) You can an MP3 of it free on Freeplay's website. =)
