  • just a guess, you're a john sykes fan ;) I'm LOVING this tone man!

  • @theeuphoricsmusic ...you guessed right! Although I aint listened to him for a while now....we need some NEW sykes music!!!

  • @shralper07

TOTALLY FUCKINGLY AGREE WITH YA, DUDE! :D

Hope that his next work with Portnoy will be worth the wait, I'm still listening to Blue Murder and Bad Boy Live, can't wait for new material (the last solo albums were KILLER)

  • I totally dig the DF. Nice n srong sounding. BTW nice review.

  • @TheBIGREDDAVE Thanks! I must find the time to do some more clips...better quality this time. ;)

  • great video! regards from Barcelona!

    Flying Renos.

  • 0:35 gave me such a guitargasm!!!

  • @ThePeaveyGeneration LOL thanks man!

  • I've got the JVM 210H. But I can't manage to get a warm sound like that, it always sounds kinda thin, glassy. Have you made any mods in the amp, like removing the C83? Or is it all about the speakers?

  • @xRafaelHUx Yes I did remove that cap and it sounds great! Just do it...you should like the (subtle) difference. I actually no longer have this JVM as I sold it on to get a Cali mod JMP head. Ill get some clips up here soon...its even better!!!!! ;)

  • Nice tone dude! What cabinet/speakers are you using?

  • @xRafaelHUx Its an old 70's angled marshall cab loaded with Celestion G12h 30 (70th anniversary) speakers. Bit like a greenback but more low end ;)

  • wow!!! Sounds soooo damn good and HOT!!!!

  • @epicvsfvror Thank you! :)

  • I saw that you said you were using a pedal in front of the crunch channel. I only use the clean red channel with pedals and find the 3rd and 4th channels useless

  • you titled this clip with "gibson dirty fingers pickup", but in which position is the dirty fingers, or are both positions staffed with a df ??

  • @1stDUDEoftheTUBE DF in the bridge...Duncan 59 in the neck. Same set up as John Sykes Custom shop model.

  • Can you still get good cleans with this pickup? and is it any good for metal?

  • @JohnMichaelEllison HI. Yes you can get quite a decent clean tone, especially if you roll off a little volume. I prefer to use the middle position for clean tones as its obviously a lot warmer sounding. The pickup is probably best for metal lol! Its a big / loud / raw organic sounding pick up but still has plenty of dynamics. They are my favourite pickups by far ;)

  • @shralper07 If you listen to the Thin Lizzy "Thunder and Lightning" album you will hear Sykes using this same pickup as he had one in his main LP for years until it was replaced with a PAF. I believe the Gibson Sykes model was fitted with the same pickups as I have in my guitar. The Dirty Fingers and a Duncan 59 in the neck. They both work together amazingly well.

  • I've been looking for a metal pickguard like that for my ebony Gibson LP Custom. Where did you get yours?

  • could you pleaaaaaaaaase post your settings and which mode you use?

  • Hi. Its a Gibson! Im going to post some new clips very soon ;)

  • is that a gibson or epiphone? please answer

  • Sounds great, and great playing. NIce eye-bolts for the strap too..

  • SUCH A GREAT TONE!!!

  • Wooooww! Love that sound man!

  • FUCK, what a tone!

  • what microphone is it then?

  • farrrrrrk!!! nice!

  • this pickup rocks!

  • nice to see a john sykes fan :)

  • damn dude you got equipment that costs over 6000$ but you can't buy a normal camera?

  • some guy said blackmachine guitars are better than gibson

    are they?

  • @TheFounderOfNothing I just checked them out on the Internet, and I still don`t know a lot about them, but the bolt on neck joint is definately not as good as set neck joint. But than`s just one thing...

  • @TheFounderOfNothing I just checked them out on the Internet, and I still don`t know a lot about them, but the bolt on neck joint is definately not as good as set neck joint. But that`s just one thing...

  • Dean for life

  • is that custom similar to Steve Clarks black custom. i know steve had a third hummbucker but that dirty fingers pick up really makes it special. Some day i will try to get a custom less paul with dirty fingers and 3 gibson hummbuckers. my dream guitar

  • The tone sounds very digital but nice gibson man.

  • whats your jvm channel and mode?

  • guitars for life!

  • good sound

  • Umm Marshalls great, and that sounded great. Ac/dc anyone?

  • sick motherfucker :D

  • actually this is epiphone....

  • marshall SUCKS!!!

  • Tits for live !

  • How much are these pickups?

  • THE BEAST DIRTY FINGERS DEMO

  • THIS PICKUP FOR METAL AND HARD ROCK ?!

  • Great demo

Did you put the DF on the bridge side only or on both sides?

It seems that the switch is on bridge only. Is thqt correct?

Thanks a lot and congrats again. It really show what we expect from a DF

  • SOOOO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!! 'like' this if you would marry a gibson les paul rather than your own woman. lol

  • i like your playing & tone, great stuff

  • Can you post your eq-settings?

and which channel+mode do you use? :)

  • Your guitar wouldn't be the 'Impaler' by any chance would it?

  • @lachlanmornard No mate...just my take on the John Sykes Gibson model ;)

  • @lachlanmornard MyLesPaul rep!

  • @mistressmoo12 Hahahah, right on man. We need to spread the word haha

  • @lachlanmornard My guitar is the "Impaler"!

  • @lachlanmornard My guitar is the Impaler as can be seen at the MyLesPaul forum.

  • hello friend I have the same screen and the truth is that is amazing, and room to play styles like ozzy, bon jovi, the darkness, acdc etc, this amp would go well at low volume?

    Greetings and thanks

  • Some John Sykes styling with the Les Paul and pickups, I like it man it looks and sounds killer!

  • Slash Tone Man!!! Congratulations!!! Awesome sound for me :D

  • the pick-up came stock with his guitar btw

  • do you know if they make these for fender guitars? I have a Jag HH, I can't find the site anywhere, my friend has a Tom Delonge Stratocaster with a dirty fingers pick-up and it sounds so raw

  • this sound is so perfect - can you tell me the settings on the amp?

    that would be great :)

  • nice straplocks

  • How would these pick up's hold up for metal?

  • Gibson and Marshall the perfect couple

  • were did you get the guitar

  • those are some crunchy ass pickups!

  • Gibson + Marshall and beetween those boss boxes

  • sounds a bit like slash's sound

  • Sounds very Brown Soundish.

  • nice man! your playing and tone reminds me of slash a bit

  • What kind of mic bro?...is that a condensor I see.? What audio interface did you use, sounds pretty good....cheers.

  • How are these pickups compared to the Dimarzio Evolutions?

  • @w1wang Never tried evo's but I quite like the tone zone and 59'PAF that I have.

  • Is your guitar 1 tune down?

  • @Intruppaman I think so....prob down a whole step

  • for what kind of music are these pickups??

  • @RockOnYourSoulHard rock my friend! :)

  • i hate when a les paul is too distored it takes away from that classic tone. but thats the perfect amount of gain. great playing too

  • @deanrockerr1994 might sound good...although the p90 may b a bit lower in volume

  • wat if u had the dirty fingers in the back and a p90 in the front do u think that will give u a big tonal sound

  • what do you mean by "shaved the neck?"

  • @adidas331 I removed all the paint from the back of the neck...it gives you a nice smooth feel and theres less stick and resistance when you slide your hand up and down the neck...its easily done with a stanley knife blade, just lay the guitar flat and holding the blade almost straight up and down, run the knife along the length of the neck...bit by bit the paint will be removed. Be warned though.....it takes quite a while and your thumb will hurt like hell haha!!!

  • @shralper07 whoa! thanks for the detailed reply, I have an lp myself and am noticing cracks all up and down where the paint and the binding meet. i know what you mean by resistance on the neck. when removing the the paint was any wood removed? did you apply any type of protectant to preserve the wood like oil of some sort? i'm totally ok with my fiddle lookin' worn, i just want to be sure it's going to last...ROCK ON!!!

  • Do you think dirty fingers is meaner than JB Seymour Duncan(SH-4)?

  • @kentpizzle im not too familiar with the JB pickups but I would think that they are....they are very raw and have loads of power and sustain!! :)

  • I don't suppose you could post your settings for the JVM that you use in this video could you?

I also have two LP's, both with Dirty fingers in, GREAT PICKUPS!

It also happens that I am a major Sykes fan as well :P Ive moddelled an Epi LP on his gibbo... :-)

  • do yu use any pedal?

  • ohhhh yeah!!!!!!!!

  • Is that the Epi Les Paul Custom Chrome?

  • @Glockenator Nope, its a gibson. I just messed with it to make it like John Sykes cause i cant afford the real deal lol!!! But it plays so well...its my number 1 guitar for sure.

  • Are these the reissue pickups? I have the original and these sound very close (with the exception that yours sound alittle brighter)

  • Wow. SEX.

  • OMG - only Marshal and Gibson

  • WOW

  • You got Slash lead tone, what are your settings like?

  • that is awesome.... Im looking at putting Dirty Fingers on my Les Paul Custom :)

How longs this guy been playing guitar?

  • gawd that is sooooo good geting those in a dean Z

  • sounds big!

    awsome

  • The John Sykes les paul is the most badass LP ever

  • are these better than whats on my epiphone standard (stock)

  • Comment removed

  • @JCBkingg yep

  • @JCBkingg I had a Dirty Fingers put in the bridge position of my PRS SE Custom. They're LOUD and they retain clarity even if you pile tons of gain on them.

  • LOL, Yeah they are.

  • correct me if i'm wrong but that looks like the John Sykes les paul custom right? Thanks Ian

  • hi Ian! Its not really....its just a bit messed up lol! I love John he's one of my favourite players, I just couldnt afford the real deal so I installed all the relevant parts myself haha! Shaved the back of the neck too...now its my favourite guitar, the dirty fingers sound incredible when the amp is cranked in a band situation. Just got another Dirty Fingers for my Les Paul Standard......more clips soon maybe : )

  • @shralper07 Hi, can you tell what was the price of dirty fingers? I'm planing on buying one myself.

  • @Skullbastard They'll usually cost you around $95 for one

  • sounds great xD

  • the dirty fingers pickups are good. im getting an epiphone les paul custom-GX with thos pickups

  • yes it would be diffrent what kind of tone or sound as in clapton, muse, metallica, are you looking for if i may ask

  • either a fulltone gt500, mxr distortion+, fulltone 69. any of those would sound amazing

  • that tone is sweet

  • Awesome...thats rock and roll right there

  • gibson and marshall for life:D

  • gibson for life ; )

  • @rom1w if your gay

  • Marshall for life!

  • dirty fingers, duncan jb, or dimarzio super distortion for the bridge of my SG?

  • or maybe even a dimebucker?

  • @ihavenoname93 Dimebuckers suck. I got rid of all of mine.

  • dirty fingers. i just got one for the bridge of my sg as well and it is superb.

  • what should i do the dirty finger pups in my ibanez iceman or my emg 81 85 set

  • @001dimebag I have a set of EMGs like you're talking about in my Les Paul. Everyone always goes with the 81 in the bridge, 85 in the neck. For shits n giggles I flipped them and found, to my ears and on that particular guitar they sounded better that way. Either way, I'd definitely go with the EMGs. I found that when playing chords, if I accidentally didn't hit all the strings the same the chords still rang out evenly, kinda like built in compression. really cool.

  • i have an epiphone les paul custom with a dirty finger on the bridge and a emg 85 on the neck, and it's PERFECT!

  • Would anyone say that the Dirty Fingers bridge pickup is a good upgrade from the 498T? I have a Gibson Studio Les Paul and I'm thinking of getting this pickup.

  • It will be a dramitic increase in output and therefore colume, so think about getting the pair to avoid colume difference problems.

  • They only make the bridge pickup. But I bought it anyway... And am VERY pleased with the sound. But yes, major difference in output. Thanks anyways!

  • I had a 500T in the bridge of my Flying V and I replaced it with a Dirty Fingers and there is a huge difference. The dirty fingers is very crisp and crunchy, and is also hotter than the 500T, and the Dirty Fingers also does classic rock well. I would imagine that there would be a huge difference switching from the 498T. You can't go wrong with the Dirty Fingers.

  • Thanks man. I've been really pleased with it. Using Super Heavy D'addargrio strings, I gotten the perfect sound that I've been looking for. Sweet! a V? Man, I wanted one, but it felt a little to sloppy to me... since I've been playing the accurate les paul forever... but thanks anyway

  • Les Paul + Marshall = Wooow

  • i hear john sykes

  • whats your neck pickup

  • why your guitar is tuned so low? how it it, 1 and half step down ay?

  • LOL you rhink he's low???? i tune to A on a 6 string and g on 7 string

  • @SRVthenumberONE Maybe he likes it like that. Some of us do. ;)

  • how are dirty fingers i want some passive pickups that are good for metal but save my clean cause i dont wanna put in emg 81/85 or seymor duncon blackouts and all i can use it for is metal if thats true

  • Well EMGs and Blackouts are not just for metal. An EMG 81/60 combo or an EMG 85/60 combo can do just about anything, and a Seymour Duncan Blackout set can do just about everything as well.

  • go for it, i have the dirty fingers in my sg and it rocks.

  • The seymor duncan blackouts are a great all around pickup for both heavy crunchy leads and soulful cleans. The EMG's however are different the best combo for metal and clean sounds are the 85 bridge, and 60 neck. or you can go with the 89-tw which sounds amazing clean.

  • im in love with that tone

  • SO BEAUTIFUL GUITAR!

  • wat amp

  • do you have dirty fingers on the kneck too?

  • no he doesn't, because it would say dirty finges in gold on it. plus, it is a bridge only pickup

  • Nice video

You've got a kickass sound with it

    =)

  • you got a moose knuckle

  • what neck pick up works well with the dirty finger pickup in the bridge?

  • Try the Gibson '57 Classic. That's what John Sykes uses. Listen to his solo on "Is This Love?" & you'll know what I mean. Got that?

  • i'll give it a look.

  • idiot....sykes was still using the dirty fingers back then. and plus, we are not even sure that the song was recorded with the dirty fingers loaded custom. It was in the 90s that gibson 57 classics were introduced.

  • Well, excuse me! All I know is what I'm going by on the pickups Gibson put in in his John Sykes model Gibson Les Paul, and as far as I know, the one in the neck on that guitar's a '57 Classic! Gimme a break, will ya?!!

  • Is your neck pickup also Dirty Fingers?

  • How much hotter is it than the 500T?

  • what JVM are you using?

  • The dirty fingers have a real AC/DC sound

  • it's good that he played in a tribute band then

  • what style do these pick-up come under?

becuase i play nu metal like disturbed and stuff like that.

on the epiphone web site these pick-ups come on a les paul guitar. but on the site it says they are for tuned down nu metal styles.

but really they sound more like zac wylde stuff.

  • Great tone!

  • hey is that john sykes sig?, hes one of my fav guitarists, i almost got this gibson, but after playing Zakk Wyldes Gibo decided to get that instead.. awesome playin

  • love the sound...could you tell me your amp settings ? 5/5

  • You'll need a pair of those sick pickups too for that amazing sound :P

  • they only make the bridge model

  • did you hit reply to wrong person? i never said anything about bridges...?? :P

  • no i was talking about the pickup they only make a bridge pickup :D

  • ohh... lol i see :P
