  • Hi, i liked your video,.. may i know what song(s) did you use?? :D thanks

  • @nicfer18 thanks for liking :)

i used "Hey Beautiful" by the Solids from their album and mixed along from the intro of the show "How I met your mother" since there is a slight variance and most are familiar with the show.

2nd song is "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson acoustic version

3rd is by Michael Buble, "Daddy's Little Girl"

  • heyyy how do we do the this? can you give us a tutorial please? i need to make a birthday presentation for my best friends in 5 days, and when i watched this, u just give me the inspiration :) please help me

  • @goldaay thank you for liking, but this actually took me weeks to prepare, and a couple of sleepless nights come deadline. i used a program called after effects, which is actually very complicated, and requires quite some time to learn

there are many tutorials online on how to use it, im sorry but it's just too broad to explain unless you've already had a background on AFX

some of the tricks i did are explained on the comments below, but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask. :)

  • hey, can i ask a question??? i need help about adobe after effects pls

  • @duychi006 what might your question be?

  • I would say I'm in between beginners-intermediate, currently I am using Sony Vegas Pro, but am not getting too many effect as the one you have here on this slideshow. and in photo editing, I use Photofiltre. Thanks for replying!

  • Hi..nice video, i love it!...

May I ask what program did you use? and how did you do the cut out pics and shadow??

I need to do a photo-video montage before the end of this month and would like to get some advice from you..

    Thanks so much!!

    Mhel

  • @mel0527 thank you for liking

i used a program called After Effects. its a program that's used to create movie, tv and commercials special effects so it does get very complicated.

i would either pre-cut on photoshop or just do it straight on after effects, depends on how complicated the cut is.

the shadow thing, i had to bring the pictures in 3d space in after effects.

  • @mel0527 alot had been explained through earlier comments, so just browse down..

but i would gladly help, just ask away :P

also if you don;t mind me asking, what your level is on creating montage and slideshows is, so i can address you better :)

  • how do make that flash effect in how i met your mother intro, do u use STYLIZE/GLOW?

  • @dpdejarme sorry.. been out of the country.. wasn't able to get back to you sooner and kinda left my mind.

anyhow.. what ever you can use.. stylize glow would work.. i think it's what i actually used, along with brightness and contrast... there's no one single single way of doing things.. just as long as you get there is the important part

  • HEY quick question, im trying to make a 3d image like u did here but i can't even do the first step of importing a CROPPED outline of a human figure onto after effects. my problem is on photoshop, how am i suppose to save it?

  • @MaxBlaze813 you can save it as PSD or even PNG...

when you import PSD on AE, choose to import it as layers.

  • @dodindaga Hey thanks for your help, i forgot to show this to u after i made it but if u wanna see the slideshow i made for my sister its here on my dad's account /watch?v=xXhRbkARt7g

i stole a lot of your effects i hope u dont mind lolll, it doesn't flow as well as yours but i'm proud of what i made and besides it was my first time using photoshop, adobe after effects, and MAGIX slideshow maker,

i think total i used 7 different programs

  • @don813 i'd give you a thumbs up.. good job. it's just the little tweaking and cleanliness...

a little tip.. try easing in and out.. Press F9 on the keys on keyframes (the little diamond on your time line-it turns into a little sand timer)

it's actually quite flattering.. i don't mind at all about the effects.. i do the same. i go to other videos to get ideas and inspiration. :)

  • sweeet feels like im actually learning haha,,,i am able to replicate some of your effects but the timing and lighting and everything is so sloppy, i really need to clean it up, i only have 2 weeks left, hopefully after my two midterms on teusday i can really start this

  • throw in an adjustment layer with a sepia effect..

a little glow effects here and there, especially on transitions

one last thing i forgot to tell you to turn blur on aswell on each layer.

as far as after effects, there are no single ways of doing things to get an effect, important thing is to get there...

i can do things in 3D space, or replacate it in 2D or any other ways.

it all depends on what might be easier and faster based on load and effects

good luck on your project :)

  • HEY ITS ME AGAIN lol, i have a question about how u did the how i met your mother thing at the beginning, did u just MASK everything and then made the camera fly through with distance or did u also use 3d, i haven't gotten to those tutoials yet im not sure if i have time

  • @don813 everything you said :)

everything in it's own 3d space and the camera just panning accross or dolying through

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FO YOUR HELP, i was able to fix the long rendering problem haha

  • i can't create the fly through look SHIITTTTT

  • finally. can u teach me about camera? like your video. i was finding this camera moves.i don't understand how to use camera. should i use null object to move camera over photos?

  • @kezukikun there are two points for the camera

one is the camera itself, the other is the target.. if you move the camera without the target, the camera will pan pointed towards the target... so you will either have to link a the target to an object of focus, or move both camera and target separately

  • so i've been watching a bunch of tutorials mostly from the guy "TheNewBoston" which has some pretty good information and everything seems to be making sense.

Just out of curiousity how many hours did you put into this. It seems like with all the masking and photos and stuff with 3d it took you quite a while i'd say like a good 15 hours?) I have videos that i am trying to add in mine and its takinig a load of time.

  • @don813 i must have not been very efficient cause it took me days to weeks.. :(

    :p

it may not look very complicated but it took a while just thinking of "what to do next?" and how "not to make it look like something i've just did"

other than that, it's the little tweaks the consumes most of my time in actually making this... because after every little adjustment, you have to do some rendering to see how it's looking.

a 3 minute song is actually very tedious to work with, much more 3 songs

  • @dodindaga yea im beginning to realize there are sooo many details...i was wondering if u could help me out, im trying to create the photoboard u made with the light source but after putting on the pictures i can't make them have shadows...

this is what i did 1. insert old paper text background, 2. insert pics on top of that 3. create light source with shawdows...

am i missing something? am i suppose to make the pics 3d too

  • @don813 yes, you'll have to make the elements as 3d as well...

and it takes time some time of getting used to it to get a feel for AE :)

  • @dodindaga it works i think i got it, quick question how do u create more time in the effeccts thing, for instance its starts off with 30 seconds and i want like a minute?

my thing is going to take 2 hours to render, i only have 10 pics, a source lighting, and everything 3d, is that correct? the clip is like 30 seconds long

  • @don813 go to the timeline then press ctrl+k..

or on the menu -- Composition> Composition Settings

    change duration to "0:01:00:00"

for something not so complicated to render that long may mean, you're using large sources or your computer is just too slow..

how large are your pictures? 12megapixels?

the larger the image, the longer it takes to compute and process.

    resize them.

standard definition is only 720x480. you don't need to exagerate on images if you're not going to zoom in any closer.

  • epic intro. can you teach me how can i make that? i am confuse with AAE. so i am using sony vegas pro 9.0

  • @clangelo03 sorry, i've never used vegas

  • @dodindaga have you used cyberlink power director? is there a way to create videos that dont occupy full screen?

also is there a way on adobe after effects to play two videos at once?

i just downloaded AE and im in the process of learning how to use it. your slide show is one of the best i've seen. you even have the 3d effects at the end.

  • AfterEffects is a very powerful tool with limitless possibilities.

all of what you mentioned can be created with after effects. the only thing it's bad at is the actual editing of videos because it doesn't view videos on the fly nor realtime.

depends on how big your effects are, you can only play clips as large as your RAM can handle. sometimes 20 seconds, other times a split second.

Tip:Use after effects for special effects and compositing, use power director for editing

    thanks for liking :)

  • great vid! i love your creativity. a tutorial on how to make a vid like this would be much appreciated from those that have seen your photo montage vids.

just wondering how you were able to create the photo montage at 1:21? are you just using a camera to move the images?

  • @flakebar thank you for liking.

everything in this video was simulated from a computer using a program called After effects. none of it was created practically.

It is the same programs used to create high end special effects on movies, television shows and commercials. it can get pretty vast.

fortunately, there are many tutorials than can be found online. what i did are pretty basics, and can be covered with any tutorials you find online. just with a little pinch of creativity :)

  • if you need any tips, just ask me..

but it's really to vast to explain from scratch,

but nothing some tutorial has already covered :)

  • @dodindaga

thanks a lot for the quick reply. by the camera, i meant the camera tool or whatever you call it in after effects (sorry, i don't know much of the technical terms in AE). is that what you used? and how did you create the endless background or was it just stitched together in photoshop?

  • @flakebar create a new comp on AE and switch on "3D Layers" on all the elements of the scene

search for "old paper texture" on google

it's 5000x5000 pixels, large enough to arrange all the pictureon top of that, just a few pixels higher and turn shadows on.

insert a light source to illuminate and create shadows.

lastly, create a camera at a certain distance at a slightly off angle to suggest a plane. either then i move the camera or the comp to give the flythrough look

  • @dodindaga

awesome! thanks so much for the tips. it's very much appreciated.

  • Can u send me the mp3 or link me the intro song, i know its how i met your mother,

i'm going to use after effects too, its a great program

  • @don813 it's a song called "Hey Beautiful" by a band called "The Solids"

sorry, but the songs i use on my videos were actually purchased on itunes, plus i mixed it with snipets from the dvd. even though it's the same song, tje single and the one on the show is of different covers.

  • Wow!!!Its a great vid..can i ask where did u get ur photo holder that stomping board....just really needs it my sis debut is next week...tnx

  • Wow!!!Its a great vid..can i ask where did u get ur photo holder that stomping board....just really needs it my sis debut is next week...tnx

  • @switshock thank you for liking :)

well, i googled "old paper texture" and looked for the best background i could find...

everything else was manually simulated with a program called "after effects"..

  • yea well no backrgorund knowledge of motion graphics or 3d space......but after seeing ur video ive downloaded after effects cs4,lynda tutorials and gonna refer videocopilot tutorials......

    but again,amazing work done!1

  • whooa thats a really nice video...loved it...help me out,can ya....how do i do this for my gf??i havn used any of the softwares u mentioned...are they user friendly??

  • @neo31591 thanks...

ummm.. i usually refer to "after effects" as photoshop except with a timeline..

but it can get pretty complicated especially if you have no background with motion graphics and knowlege of 3D space prefered.

this is actually the same programs used to create special effects for movies, tv shows and commercials so it can get very complicated, but the product coming out to amazing...

there are alot of tutorials online though, if you want to learn.

i went to school for this.

  • superb to this video. :)

  • Wut song is on 4:54?? i reli like this slideshow..great job. Any advice coz Im doin 1 for my sis!!

  • daddy's little girl - michael buble

umm advice? i can't really say much since i don't know of your technical or creative background. but what i do is listen to the song over and over and get a vision in my head of how i want it to look and feel, and i work from that :)

first laying the pictures out, then timing it, then finally, working with the effects..

  • hello, what software did you use in making this photomontage? it looks great, i enjoyed watching it. well done =p

  • thanks.

after effects was used mostly for this montage..

then there's photoshop to touch up images as well as splitting the foreground from the background.

  • i see. did you make use of windows movie maker of something? =P

  • softwares used:

    Adobe After Effects

    Adobe Photoshop

    Adobe Audition
